MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Hi Everyone,

I have been dealing with a 24/7 headache for the past 14 months. I also have severe neck, jaw & joint pain in my knees & elbow. I requested a test from igenex & received the package. I just got a copy of my original negative test I had done at Quest- The Western Blot. My doctor said it is negative - below are the results. ANY help interperting would be appreciated! I have had many ticks over my lifetime but don't recall ever having a bullseye or rash. Do you think I should do the testing? I have tried to get in to a LLMD but there is a 6-12 month wait for those I have called.

18KD IGG Band negative

23KD IGG Band non-reactive

28KD IGG Band non-reactive

30KD IGG Band non-reactive

39KD IGG Band non-reactive

41KD IGG Band REACTIVE

45KD IGG Band non-reactive

58KD IGG Band non-reactive

66KD IGG Band non-reactive

93KD IGG Band non-reactive

EHRLICHIA CHAFFEENSIS

E.CHAFFEENSIS ABIGG <1:64

E.CHAFFEENSIS ABIGM <1:20

antibody not detected

Does band 41 mean anything? I am trying to decide whether to still do the IGENEX testing because of my other symptoms. Thanks!

Hi there!

41 is very common. It is the band that detects the motility device, flagella, from spirochetes like Bb.

I have had similar test results like this one for years even though I knew I had Lyme because I actually got the tell tale EM rash.

I would do the Igenex test anyway, however, please understand that if your body is not making any antibodies to detect, you may still have a negative result.

That doesn't necessarily mean you do not need to see someone highly Lyme literate to make the only diagnosis that is necessary...a clinical one!

Your symptoms are very familiar to many here, but if you haven't ruled out other possibilities with your GP, please continue to do so while you wait to get in with an LLMD.

I know it seems like a long time to wait but many docs offer a "will call" list if there are any cancellations. I know it has worked for me and others.

It is such a shame that there are so few doctors to treat way too many patients with a base that is growing all the time.

I wish they would wake up to this healthcare emergency and getting a handle on it before it cripples the nation.

Hope this helps. Hang tough. we know how hard it can be...but you are not alone! Wink

I need some help. I have been diagnosed with Lyme and had my children tested to be safe, even though they don't really have symptoms. Three out of the four had one reactive band for IGG on the Western Blot. Two had 41 and one had 18. I've been reading through the site and I'm still not sure what these mean. If they each only have one, should I not be concerned, or should I treat just to be safe, or do I need to have the IGM results to know for sure? Any advice would be appreciated, I'm very confused and concerned.

thanks,

Lara

I did not do the standard blot on my son for the fact that it is too inaccurate. I tested him through Igenex for lyme and for Bartonella and he showed positive for both. I wouldn't have expected the blot to show anything. My son is 14 months old.

The choice is yours. Personally, I felt it was better to get more accurate testing so I could start treatment sooner then later when the infection could spread and be too hard to treat. Just my personal opinion.

24/7 headache started: 7-14-08
Dx myself -Lyme Disease- treatment started: March 2009
24/7 Headache resolved: June 2009
Treatment ended June 2010 (about 15-1/2 months)

Lyme Disease, Bartonella, and BLO's. Son confirmed with Bartonella and Lyme at 14 months old (he is now 3yrs old).
