Hi all-

My husband came down with a virus yesterday afternoon, and woke up this morning telling me he had strep. He had to take the day off and go to the doctor's. My son isn't in school yet, so my Mother in law takes care of him. My husband gets to take a day off, no kids, no worries but himself, and lie in bed. Must be nice. Then he texts me from the dr to let me know that I was wrong and that mono is contagious. it isn't what he has, he doesn't even have strep. He has a virus, but he could get mono from me.

He asked me to come home and take care of him. I am mad at him for being able to take a day to himself. I am mad at him for being sick and asking for sympathy. And, sadly, the only reason I am sorry he is sick is because he gets an excuse to lie on the couch or in bed and do nothing, but I can't.

Am I wrong in feeling like this?

Jen

Hi Jen:

I don't think you are wrong in your thoughts, but men are different when sick, they like to be a big baby, we are the strong of the two. Does he take care of you when you are sick?? I would tell him how you feel, don't hold it in, just makes matters worse...

Oh no. I agree with Julie - talk to him. You are getting a bargaining chip out of this, for sure! There's a reason why we have the babies, etc. We get really ill and still keep on going - it's just nature.

Sorry you are having problems!

(I just found out I've had mono for YEARS -- undetected since college -- I'm 35 now).

Jen, nothing is wrong with you for feeling like this. I'm feeling that way right now. It amazes me, I'm the sickest person I know, yet the hardest working. I look at my neighbors, watching thier hubby's do all the work, and they sip thier drinks, and I'm out there moving dirt and mulch.

and right now both my kids are sick...I got hit monday with it, ON TOP OF LYME, do you think hubby gave a hoot? well, now it hit him and he's moping around like you wouldn't believe. What crap! Such babies sometimes. WOmen are stonger than we give ourselves credit for. Honestly.

I don't get any compassion from anyone in my family.... well, more from my toddlers than anyone! how sad is that. My mom is decent too, but other than that...in laws SUCK, my sister in law had an ovarian cyst burst sunday, and everyone dropped what they were doing to tend to the poor thing. I had one burst 4 weeks ago, did anyone care? I throw up every month, and twitch like a parkinsons patient, I haven't slept in 12 days, does anyone care? NO.

Thank GOD for support groups like this. You can come here and vent away about the poor man...haha

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
