Hi Julie, Glad to hear your sleep really isn't interuppted. That is a plus. I can sure realte to the Neck pain, knee pain as well as hip pain. My Neck is sore sore (swollen glands, stiffness...) It barely wants to hold my head up at times. LOL... Not a lol matter I know, It's better than crying though! Which I do some times also.

Went to my lyme doc today, he thinks my herx reaction is a positivee thing so early on in tx, and feels I will only need the picc for a total of 4 wks. It can't come out soon enough for me!

Wish's for good health 2 U & yours!

Yes I can sure sleep. I take one bendryl one hour before I go to bed and I will sleep for 6 hours...

Oh the neck pain, I put rice in socks and put them in the freezer and that really helps, or I heat them in the micowave and use them on my neck and knee, they really help...

Julie

Hi Julie ~ Freezing cold rice? Never heard of that. I use heat. Well that and anti-inflammatories. The rice sounds interesting and probably holds the heat better than just a microwaved towel. Did you think of this or did you read it somehwere? Still, very interesting, I'll try it.

Thank you much! I hope you are having a good day. Spring is in the air here in NJ today!

Best wishes for good health!

Carol

Yes, rice is a great idea! When I used to get IVs, the nurses would warm my veins with rice bags. They were homemade from towels stuffed with rice and then sewn closed. They would put the rice bags in the microwave and then on my arm to 'bring out' my stubborn veins. Great idea , Julie.

Caroll, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. This disease is as gruesome as the treatment. I hope you have better days real soon. Take care. My prayers are for all of us.

Carol:

You can buy them but there expensive, we make our own have been doing it for years and years. I just go and by a bag of white cotton socks (cheap ones) fill them with cheap white rice and put them in the freezer, or just leave them out. If I want cold I put them in the freezer if I want hot/warm I put them in the mircowave, they are so much better then a heating pad. Plus they form to the neck or knee...I also put lavender oil in mine, makes me sleep like a baby...

Jim started doing this years ago when he was overseas in China they showed him how to make them...They last for a good year. When the sock gets dirty I throw them out and make more, we make a dozen at a time...

This xmas I gave everyone two in there gift bags as I take them to work with me and all the girls loved them for there cramps due to bad periods...

Try it, they work well...

Julie

Ok, as crazy as this sounds --- I'm posting this anyway. Anyone that has read my posts has read that I've had severe joint pain for over 20 years due to Lyme. I went to an alternative treatment facility for two weeks (a month ago) and by the 2nd day, my pain was completely gone. The one thing I can trace that to is this contraption:

http://www.alpha-stim.com/as100.html

I don't know why or how but it totally worked. It's FDA approved and being used in Veteran Hospitals. I'm buying one next week. I've gone 4 weeks without any pain. It's just starting to slowly creep back so buying a machine like this is totally worth it for me!

No more 'popping' my shoulders and stretching my neck out as far as a giraffe - I can sit in movie theaters and drive long distances for the first time in ages.
