Hello forum.

I've been beaten by a tick last weekend (damn picnics ) and I told my doctor about it and now he wants me to take antibiotics preventively (doxycycline), out of fear that I may develop lyme disease.

Now... I'm not too happy to be taking antibiotics just for fun, without any real threat... and doing my research on the net I came across this forum. It seems like this disease is more serious than I imagined - so this is why I ask you, people out there (here...) who know more about this: is it worth intoxicating my body with unnecessary drugs just "to be on the safe side"?

I get mouth sores after every antibiotic treatment, and sometimes diarrhea. I don't tolerate them very well. That's why I'm asking. Thank you all.

mouth sores & diarrhea don't compare to a life time ( 20 years in my case), of profound fatigue, nerulogical damage, chronic pain,

loss of income, no social life, suicidel depression, lack of insurance & hardly a doctor to find that knows anything about lymes, let

alone the ability to treat it. by the way, thats the good part.

DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO ENSURE YOUR HEALING.

You actually are luckier that the majority of Lyme patients, you know when you were bitten. I have two kids that have had Lyme for 9-10 years, because we don't know when they were bitten. They are REALLY SICK.

At the point they are, there is no cure, only the hope of remission.

My advice...get tested (properly) and take the antibiotics...
