If I were you, if you're going to self treat, I would go get Stephen Buhner's book, "healing lyme naturally" and follow his protocol. I've read the book and it sounds great. garlic is a wonderful natrual antibiotic, antiparasitic, etc, etc, etc, samento is another great one, artemisinin (sp?), he goes thru some great things, he also has another great book called "herbal antibiotics" you could either buy them or get them at the library, I think he even tells you where you can get some of the things he suggests.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Hi wocali

I think you can find a LLMD for less than $1500!!! even the very expensive one I know up north in NJ isnt that much--even the famous Dr Jones --one of the only peds LLMDs in CT isnt THAT much!!

TRY to work out a payment plan if you must--you need a good LLMD to start, theres so many things that may go wrong in the beginning--and you need professional and experienced help with sorting out whats happening!!

Even experienced LLMDs often make a best guess, but thats really risky to do on your own!!

Even Buhner will recommend having a Dr ( even a cooperative family Dr who will support you) on board.

I think I already posted a great site just for Buhner people

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme_Aid_Buhner/

keep in mind that there are NO Drs here and we can only tell you what helps us and what we THINK may be happening to you. This is a serious disease with serious consequences.

Hi again wocali

I had a chance to read your other posts

you said

"the doc wanted me to go on pic line but i refused.i was told for years i had fm and cf.........so he just gave me oral tx..now i am so sick i cant get out of bed in the morning and when i do i crawl.i lost all of my friends... please help...i dont wantto go to anymore docs as this is my life."

so you had a dr--can you return to him/her?? or find another?? or even a CERTIFIED ND that went to an accredited school who will do more natural/herbal stuff??

I understand that you were afraid of the PICC line!!! and I understand not wanting to see any more Drs

having an illness thats scary and that doesnt seem to go away is VERY scary too--but you have to stick with some sort of Dr.You describe yourself as being very ill and that makes it more risky to do things totally on your own!!

the fact that you got sicker with antibiotics may mean that you DO have tick illnesses--another reason to keep a professional on board!!

many of us do decide to go it alone AFTER we have been going to drs for awhile and have become educated about how the illness affects us and about what does and does not work..even then its risky but at least we have that experience

I am really worried about you doing this all alone, especially since you dont have a lot of experience with this.

and I hope your Mom starts to do better-- its hard to see our parents get older and more frail!!

BTW I see youre from upstate NY--my family when I was a kid, used to pass thru your town on the way to Catskills every summer!!!

have you tried an area support group for Dr suggestions??? we can try to hook you up.

if you need urgent help anytime, email me at finrussak@aol.com

Im surprised the cortisone helped..usually with Lyme, steroids can make everything worse! Im glad that for you it didnt

with the colitis you have to be more careful than most!! Id be afraid to suggest anything until you know better which bacteria ( Lyme and if you have coinfections)and that you have someone professional at least to turn to.

The only thing thats relatively safe are things like Kefir ( a yogurt like drink that adds good bacteria to the gut which may help immune system and the colitis too)- 1 cup a day...to avoid wheat....make sure youre having lots of veggies and fruits and a good diet, a good multi vitamin...cut back or avoid sugar but dont use artifical stuff like Nutrasweet...

Id not even try the silver--without asking someone professional that knows your sensitivities and again your medical history its pretty risky to jump in.

try getting Buhners book and then email him--maybe he can better and more safely tell you what to try and most important what NOT to try with your history

and be very careful of many on a lot of Lyme sites who will be happy to give you a list of what to do without having the experience or credentials--always ASK what education they have and what schools they went to--many unfortunately just buy their diplomas and try to "treat" online and sell you stuff!!

If it sounds too good to be true--it usually is

Id really feel better if youd find a decent Dr or ND!!!!Plus the money to dabble in herbs and alternatives ( even supplements) isnt cheap--and if you get worse the money to fix you wont be cheap either!!

there is a Dr Catherine Hall Nyack NY who is a ND

A dr elizabeth Newhard ND in Warwick NY

any of these do-able??

I used my password and my month limit to LDA to get you these names:
