I have heard of numerous "traditional" (non-allopathic, that is) methods to cure lyme disease - such as traditional Chinese medicine, natural/plant remedies, the salt and vitamin C cure etc. - the Internet is full of ads and success stories.

Do they really work? Do they have any basis? Or they just exploit other people’s pain, like many others do?

I have also heard of food therapy (garlic, and fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, like citrus, strawberries, peppers), hydrotherapy (warm compresses against dull pain or cold compresses against sharp pain) and imagery (envisioning the parasite in your blood stream, and visualizing killing it) of being efficient in lyme, but I can't testify myself. Maybe there is somebody here who knows more and better...

Hello, Jims57. From your brief reply, should we gather it that you consider alternative medicine totally inefficient, and the allopathic approach the only way to go?

Hi, okay. I am 40years old and have suffered with Rheumatoid Arthritis for the last several years, getting worse. I was diagnosed and knowing that my options would be long term, high doses of Antibiotics or???? I decided to seek alternative medicine. In my research, I found that Cats Claw (samento) has been highly effective herb in killing these little spirochetes that invade and destroy. I have NOT taken antibiotics during my first year of treatment but, have taken the Cats Claw. My RA sysmtoms have been greatly reduced. I sleep better at night and the brain fog is clearing a bit. I am VERY encouraged by this and will continue on this route. Antibiotics can kill good bacteria in the body and I didn't want this.....

Thank you, Rosebud. This is what so many of us would like to hear.

You say you've never-ever taken antibiotics since you're been diagnosed?

No, I have not taken anti-biotics for my lymes. Just the Cats Claw (Samento) and a few other supplements to help particular symptoms. I am working with an excellent DR in Oregon that knows Lymes.... Be encouraged... there is true hope. Keep a good attitude!!!

So an actual allopath physician recommended herbs and advised against antibiotics? That's particularly impressive. I am encouraged, very much so.

There's other good supps/herbs that folks take along with samento. Garlic or more specifically allicin is a great natural abx. Allicidin and Allimax are a couple of brand names. Lactoferrin interferes with the spirochettes ability to utilize iron for replication. Paramicrocidin [Grapefruit seed extract} is a good natural abx. Some use silver and artemisinin has proven effective for babesia which is a common lyme co-infection that abx will not touch. Make sure you take these under the watchful eye of a medical professional.
