"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

As always check with your doctor before adding or changing anything to your current protocol.

Many of us already know that Garlic may be a Lyme cyst buster and killer (link to study below) but did you know Garlic also does the following:

Lowers bood cholestrol

Has blood-clotting dissolving activity

Stimulates the immune system

Reduces blood pressure

Fights all infections

Antiviral

Antiparasitic

Antifungal

Antiprotozoan

Raw garlic is more powerful than penicllin and tetracyline (according to the book "The Food Pharmacy") - in WWII British Md's treated battle wounds with garlic, reporting total success in warding off septic poisoning and gangrene even typhus and cholera.

Raw and the Japenese extract , Kyolic dramatically augmented the powers of the immune system's natural killer cells, being a first line defense against cancer and infectious diseases.

Studies show that people using garlic who stopped became sluggish.

For many in LD treatment it can be hard to tolerate and make herxing worse, it is similar to adding an antibiotic for many. So start slow or pulse it (i.e., few days on few days off) first to see how you do.

Eat your garlic - and who cares what you smell like - tell them that is the smell of health!!

Just a little added info for parents........I got this advice from my chirpractor about Garlic being a natural antibiotic...whenever my kids start to have the slightest ear ache (both have had tubes in their ears before, so they can get severe!) I take a garlic oil capsule and prick it with a pin to put the oil on a qtip and gently rub around the parts easily reached inside the ear. Then of course, I have them drink a cup of hot water with honey (check age limits on honey as kids under a certain age can NOT have honey!)and lemon and put them to bed with a hot wash rag on top of one of those microwavable rice heat pads so that it stays hot longer. (helps to draw out whatever is in there. The earache is ALWAYS 100% gone by morning, even if they hate the smell.....The garlic works to kill the bacteria, the rest works to drain the ear canal.

We are kind of Garlic fanantics in this house, food wise as well as health wise. I like to use the excuse that it's because my husband is 100% barely in the country Italian, but as I am way Irish and it shows that doesn't really matter!LOL We eat garlic every single day and try to find a way to put it into every meal in our house......and surprisigly none of us have ever been told we smell like it before! I'm secretly hoping that it's somehow been keeping me from being sicker than I already am all this time....

My Chiropractor also says (he's a dear friend, but not terribly lyme literate so advice on the matter is not first hand knowledge) I should add a medicinal garlic to my daily pills to help combat the Lyme and that eating it is not going to do anything for me medically....anyone have any real time experience with that?

actually I believe I've heard that real garlic is best, like cooking with it, or even eating it raw (yuk). But a good garlic supp. is a great idea.

I went to a pain managment clinic last week, think I ticked off the guy in charge. I knew more about things that he did, and I didn't hesitate to share my info, lol. He brought up garlic and said be careful it's a blood thinner. I said yeah, maybe so, but if you look at all the benefits of it, definitly outways that. and I rambled on and on about the benefits. explained how in foreign countries they sell antibiotics over the counter and people don't buy them, they take garlic, lol. me and my big mouth

HAHA! That's awesome! I have heard it is a blood thinner though, if you have a medical procedure coming up, it's on the list of things to stop taking within a certain amount of time beforehand because it can be dangerous. But I'm with you, overall the pros far outweigh the cons!

Thanks for the info about the ears. My 8yo has swimmer's ear. I'm going to try your recipe . Thanks.

Keep educating them , Jaime. If they're smart, they'll listen and just might learn something. They don't know it all, that's for sure.

yeah, one older lady there actually was intriged by me, I ended up giving her my email and phone number. She seems to be having issues with her doctor, and even though I don't think it's lyme related, I know how to talk to doctors and get done what needs done, so I guess I will advocate for her.

Also i think i got ripped on my garlic, I looked at the fine print on the tag and is says "packed in China" That country is so full of heavy metals i dont think my garlic is safe to eat.I hope its Ok to say this but after seeing their smog on TV i refuse to consume goods from there.
