we were notified that our bcbs health insurance was going up $600/MONTH, $7200/year; so i've been trying to find out who has what to get out of paying $1800/MONTH!! ridiculous.well, in today's mail was a HUMANA medicare supplement company having an EDUCATIONAL SESSION THIS AFTERNOON in 30 min. in our city; so i got down there. ONLY ONE THERE so i got 1 on 1 help galore.
i could NOT believe it only $21 per month for each; $42 for the 2 of us vs. over $1,000+ difference month since i was thinking of going to SILVER SCRIPT on bcbs that would have saved us $600/month.
we went thru my list of prescriptions; found out which ones and how many were tier 1 and 2s; haven't figure up what it will cost me on MY meds alone.
i don't have handout in front of me but MAX TOTAL is like $4300 OUT OF POCKET PER PERSON/YR.
they have many free things:
mammogram, prostate testing, diabetis management training, annual PHYSICAL & EYE EXAM, including going to a health center FREE to work out/take classes from them, plus more.
i've got to take the time to read this all carefully and do some figuring what it will cost us but HUGE SAVINGS from what we were paying bcbs!!
she'll come on friday to do the applications for us both. huge leap.
our former employer kept threatening in their letter of new prices for retirees; IF YOU LEAVE THE PROGRAM, YOU'LL NEVER GET BACK IN AGAIN!
but look at the savings we'll have.
ARE ANY OF YOU ON HUMANA? how do you like or NOT like it?
please give me some feedback to prepare me for this huge culture shock from bcbs and how things are handled ok.
just had to share this info since many of us here are on MEDICARE due to being approved for ssdi disability; so wanted only to inform you of 1 of the many things out on the market.
