Has anyone clicked on the advertisement for the Natural Lyme Protocol that is displayed on this site? Has anyone tried the product?

I know there's alot of people that say they have the cure. I was wondering is this one that anyone used.

Thanks

I haven't tried it.

But if anyone says 'they have the cure' I'd highly doubt it.

Just my opinion.

I'm a bit cynical about those things myself.

That said...whatever works for you is all that matters! Obviously the folks that swear by it either really experienced a major improvement in their condition or they are financially tied to the product in some way.

Now that I think about it...I'm pretty cynical about most things these days! LOL

Let us know if you decide to try it!

Now I just looked at this one...

Lyme Disease

Natural Remedies for Lyme Disease. Information and Recommendations

Their info was interesting...and the amt of products - IDK - I know that there is a lot out there that can help, but ya know I spent a good 10 years on most (not all) that they mention, and I really got sick of swallowing 33 pills 3x's a day...yea folks 33, one handful if they could all fit - one gulp...

But there are some good thing...I have been on the collostrum - never saw a significant change...

But it is up to you the individual and how your body responds...

Pammie, I would say, spend time looking into the different things and get some feedback from the peeps here - just dont rush to a decision - so many of us have been on oooddles of stuff...

Christine

I know what I am and I know what I am not

Never put it past this disease to be the culprit - but we also cant brainwash ourselves into believing that it is the only thing

Yeah, as a seller of herbs I probably would trust them.

But 'treating' THAT many 'conditions'? I dunno.

Here's what I found:

Since an FDA Warning letter was sent out to Penn Herbs in Oct of 2005 which contained this warning (below) about their 'Soothing Bowel Support' product (just one of several items the FDA warned them about) I see that they changed their 'advertising'.

http://www.casewatch.org/fdawarning/prod/2005/ pennherb.shtml

Excerpt from the Warning letter:

...found that they are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs under section 201(g)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) [21 USC 321(g)(1)].

The therapeutic claims on your websites establish that these products are drugs because they are intended for use in the cure, mitigation; treatment, or prevention of disease.

The marketing of these products with these claims violates the Act. You can find the Act and implementing regulations on FDA's website at www.fda.gov.

End excerpt

The wording that the FDA took exception to is below.

****Soothing Bowel Support™ (Irritable Bowel Support™)

Product label:

* "It is helpful when affected by diarrhea, and irritable bowel and is also soothing to peptic ulcers…"

Website:

* "This soothing blend contains: CINCHONA, BIRCH & SHEPERD'S PURE, which address complaints such as diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome. LICORICE ROOT soothes peptic ulcers…"

* "Common use: diarrhea; irritable bowel; peptic ulcers."*****

***********************[/i]**********

Now, Penn Herbs lists that product with this description:

**** Irritated Bowel? Get Nature's Wonderland Soothing Bowel Support™

Soothing Bowel Support™, 60 Vcaps - 550mg (Nature's Wonderland)

Is your intestinal system making you a prisoner to the restroom? Many have digestive systems that are troubled by occasional diarrhea, upset stomach and digestive discomforts. Soothing Bowel Support™ has helped bring confidence & relief to many.

Ya know, Cave, the FDA may very well take exception to what the website says, and I'm sure that the marketing of the claims in the way they do so DOES violate the Act. However, that being said, licorice root is the #1 natural remedy used for centuries to HEAL stomach ulcers. It works as well as ulcer-treatment DRUGS, BUT WITH FEWER SIDE EFFECTS... It also works differently, instead of inhibiting acid production (which is actually needed by the body to digest food), it strengthens the stomach's normal protective mechanisms and promotes healing of the stomach lining. It also inhibits the growth of H. pylori, the bacterium known to cause stomach ulcers. It's also been shown to be quite effective at preventing ulcers caused by over-use of NSAID's. It can be used in a couple of different forms, one of which is safe for people with high blood pressure and those who take heart and blood pressure meds. Some forms may cause diarrhea, others may not. Whole licorice shouldn't be used if you are pregnant or nursing, if you have heart disease, liver disease, or diabetes, or if you are taking heart or blood pressure meds; it should also not be taken for more than 6 weeks unless directed by a physician.--info can be found in "The Herbal Drugstore" by Linda B. White, M.D., and Steven Foster and the staff of Herbs for Health

So...just because the FDA takes exception to something one sells doesn't always mean it's bad. It can simply be a violation of a law that, while designed to protect us, doesn't always do that. There are ways to learn about natural remedies that involve using our brains and don't require politics to get involved in them. And I hope you won't take that as me being snippity at all, Cave...I don't mean it that way. I get very irritated with the FDA about stuff like this, it's not directed at you at all! But even tho laws like this are designed to protect us, they give us little choice about how to care for our bodies, IMHO...We have a harder time learning about our choices for care, when it's hard to discover the REAL reasons behind what's good for us and what's bad. IMHO, the fact that a natural remedy has fewer side effects than a drug, sounds like a better idea to me. But, that's JMO, as usual! LOL

Take this for what you will, anyone who's reading it. I just have the info available at my fingertips and wanted to pass it along. I'm NOT in any way, shape, or form advocating this particular website. I have NOT seen it and have NOT bought anything from it. I DO, however, happen to be more interested in natural remedies and less interested in drugs as of late. I'm learning more about them and finding that they are less toxic to my body and my body seems to find them much more tolerable. But EVERYONE reacts differently. What works for me will NOT work for everyone, so take it for what it is, MY OWN OPINION.

Peace! *hugs*

Jen

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

The only thing I worry about with supplements and stuff you get in healthfood stores or online is that I just feel a little less assured about how they are made and if what they say is in them and in what amounts and so on is accurate.

I know that the possiblity of drug companies getting stuff wrong is there...but for some reason ...knowing that there is some form of regulation makes me feel better. I know it's purely psychological.

And I also agree the FDA is by no stretch of the imagination necessarily the best watchdog.

I am totally open to natural medicine. There has been thousands of years of practice there, I just am afraid of getting scammed by corrupt entities claiming they know how to cure me and taking my $ and then I get no results!

Oh! Wait! That's what happening to me in the current healthcare system anyway! What do I have to lose after all? LOL

Thanks everyone for all the information. I get desperate and also confused as to what to try next. What works and what doesn't? I guess the only way to find out is to try it. And as we all know, what works for one may not work for another. I got my Sarmento in the mail today and I'm going to try that tomorrow. I guess I'm just looking for that magic pill that will take it all away.

Thank you so much for the information and I'll let you know if I decide to do it and results.

Hugs to all,

Pam

Dharma,

I have to LOL! I got to the last sentence, and I was about to guffaw and say the exact same thing! You crack me up... I totally needed that today, too.

In all honesty, tho, that's truly how I'm starting to feel. The very people who are supposed to be taking care of us are the ones who are shoving us out the door and leaving us to die! I have some WONDERFUL resources for anyone interested in getting info on herbal remedies, and it's tried and true stuff. If you want the info, let me know, I'll be glad to give it to you.

I'm a firm believer in figuring stuff out on your own. Do the research and make your own decisions. Go with your gut. When I read a list of side effects of drugs a mile long, it really makes me stop and go, WHA...? And I'm supposed to take this cuz, why? And when I see the herbals and see the list of side effects being fairly minimal, with so many people having been healed, anecdotal evidence is how we GET stuff approved--that IS the trial method, after all! LOL. You gotta ask the questions if you want the answers. And we've stopped doing it cuz we have just accepted with the FDA that it's all good. But that's when things like Phen-Fen and other awful things start killing people!

Now, I'm by no means totally AGAINST conventional drugs, either. Cuz I know they have their place. But they can be bad...So, you have to take the good with the bad, and pick and choose!

But if you want info on how to dose the herbals, let me know! I find that instead of taking all the concoctions, like it seems this particular website is selling, I choose the things that are separate, and take a particular one based on a particular symptom, if that makes sense? Say, for instance, I have an ulcer, which I do, incidentally. I would choose to take straight licorice root in whatever form was best for me, at the recommended dosage, instead of taking the combined concoction this company has. And I'd buy it from my local health food store, where I know the people and I know the products, and where I can talk to someone and get more info directly from them if I needed it. Make sense? That way I can be more assured of the quality of the product and that there are no additives and junk I don't want in there.

Ok, enough on that from me! *hugs*

Jen
