MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

While on antibiotics can you drink alcohol? I understand that it can slow everything down in your body and make it a longer recovery time but does anyone know anything specifically about alcohol either making antibiotics less effective or have them not work at all? Please let me know any information that you have.

Thanks

Flagel you can't NOT DRINK, you could die....

Others, well I have had a glass of wine but that is about it, I never drank a lot while in treatment. Plus Alcohol and the liver along with Abx's don't go hand in hand...Be careful

I agree. It is more of a problem for your liver and other organs trying to process all the crap out of your body. Ask your doc for sure but I have found that a glass (or 2 lol) of a nice wine or a beer while you are trying to maintain some kind of social life probably won't screw up your tx too bad. Moderation and responsible use...I wouldn't try any major partying...

Hope this helps...

I have to agree with Julie. There are plenty who will tell you that zero alcohol is the rule. But I think that the research on resveratrol is pretty interesting, so I try to keep an open mind. Having said that, with Flagyl, it's an absolute NO-NO. It can literally KILL you, and you don't want that, else what's the point in treatment. One of our members makes his own wine and drinks it, and seems to be doing well on it. I'd say all things in moderation as long as you aren't on Flagyl... I wouldn't go crazy, tho! A glass or 2 socially, when you are feeling reasonably well, not Herx'ing, and can keep your wits about you, I guess that would be ok. I'm not drinking, and I used to...So, there ya go. If you're having any symptoms, I'd say lay off it.

Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Hi, I had asked this question too because I was instructed No Alcohol but I don't think that it has anything to do with making the antibiotics ineffective but more of a general health issue? Anyway, I have been drinking a bit, but I am not currently taking any antibiotics. (I don't know all of the acronyms and abbreviations..I am new to this site:abx?)

My additional question is more pressing to me....has anyone used FIR ( Far infrared) therapy? I have been sweating it for a couple of weeks and I think that it really works, I would like to hear from someone who has been doing it for many months as I may buy one for my home.

all the best,

Ret, I'd talk to Connie, I believe she's doing the FIR sauna's, and she says they're wonderful. Also, Buckron has a biomat, and I believe it works off of similar technology, if I'm not mistaken, tho I totally could be! LOL...They both are firm believers in them. Connie also has a biomat and loves it! Talk to them and get more info, if you want it... Jen
