Hi Everybody -

I've got some questions - While I am basically trying to find a new doctor, I am basically treating myself.

I have had a PICC line for about 2 months, and been on 2 grams of Ceftriaxone per day the whole time. I was reading some Burrascano guidelines which recommend 4 days on at 4 grams/day, then 3 days off. It is supposedly better for lyme treatment, easier on your system and gallbladder too. So I am considering doing that for right now. Any know about that?

Also, I am taking doxycycline, 100 mg twice a day. I just discovered that I need to take doxy 2 hours away from calcium, magnesium, and a few other things for it to be effective, so I am trying to get that scheduled too.

Thirdly, I have been taking Rifampin for about 3 weeks now, two 300mg capsules per day. I ALSO just found out that those should be taken TOGETHER, so I am going to take those a few hours after dinner along with the second doxy pill.

Any good info on the "timing" of meds throughout the day? My current doctor didn't mention ANY of this (which is another reason I'm looking for a new doctor)

For what it's worth - I got bitten about 1 1/2 years ago and have been really trying for over a year to get good thorough treatment, and only got a PICC line going just two months ago.

I've got the neuro-lyme pretty bad, especially for the past few months.

Also, I take a LOT of the Burrascano recommended supplements, (Sam-E, CoQ10, etc. etc. etc.) I'm also doing the Buhner lyme herbs as well.

The things that seem to make the biggest difference for me that I can feel are the anti-inflammatory things such as Wobenzym and Nattokinase-SD, Bromelain, Papain, etc.

I guess I will post a broader request in my LLMD search, since there are apparently NO ILADS-trained LLMDs in Georgia. I can travel a ways for a good one, especially if they will do some phone consults, etc. But I guess that is a post for another section !! (But I am certainly open to any PMs regarding REALLY GOOD LLMDs anywhere in the Southeast!

Thanks!

I haven't been on IV - but I have been on Rifampin. Since rifampin has to be taken either 2-3 hours after a meal or 1 hour before a meal...I found it the easiest for me to take around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

I do this now...and take mino and zith with dinner...

This schedule works out good for me- because the blood levels of the abx aren't peaking when I'm trying to go to sleeep!

Just what works best for me...
