Has anyone heard of, or tried microcurrency treatments?? The reason I am asking is one of my DH's clients has referred us to someone out here who supposedly has been working wonders with FMS patients & others with pain related conditions, and he & my DH are insisting I go there. It's a microcurrency treatment with graphite gloves. Anybody know of this??

Here's an article on it I found: http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?id=3072&t=CFIDS_FM

DH's client has personally had this treatment for things as well as they have referred a couple of different 'severe FMS' friends who have completely recovered. I know that the Lyme still has to be treated in conjunction, but if this could help with eliminating all that pain..... or even a bunch of it,.. that would be amazing!

Do you think there's any harm in trying it?? I'm going to ask my NP about it tomorrow as well, but so many of you already have so much experience here that I wanted to throw this out there for you to get opinions on.

Thanks in advance! (((hugs)))

Probably can't hurt. Might wind up being expensive.

But the interleukin maze is HUGE. Cascade upon cascade.

****Dr. McMakin: The blood samples we obtained on five patients from consecutive visits showed that each sample started out lower in inflammatory interleukins and substance P (responsible for pain transmission) than the one before.******

Which interleukin(s)? Interleukins numbers keep going up. The last one I looked at was # 25---- I'm sure there's more.

*****There is an enhanced secretion of some interleukins and inflammatory cytokines in adipose tissue of the obese as well as increased circulating levels of many cytokines. The central theme of this chapter is that human adipose tissue is a potent source of inflammatory interleukins plus other cytokines and that the majority of this release is due to the nonfat cells in the adipose tissue...********

Sounds like woo to me- (my opinion) but it probably can't hurt. I'm glad if people do get relief from it.

Sounds interesting Beauty. I used a type of therapy called Cyma. It was some type of sound therapy applied to the body with a 'wand' that had a magnet in it. Sounds kooky and I'm not giving it justice with my layman terminology. However, it worked great for pain relief. I was absolutely stunned. My pain in my neck and spine was horrendous. After one treatment, I felt great for about eight days...no need for pain pills. It was temporary only lasting from eight to fourteen days, but it was a light at the end of the tunnel and well worth the money for me. The money part is all relative anyway. Everyone has different priorities. Good health and feeling great are on my list of top priorities.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

Thanks for the info, Cave & Connie!

The guy I was referred by has referred severe FMS friends, two of them, to DR M and they feel about 98% better now, according to him. He has also done this treatment for some other conditions of his, and says he has seen great results. His wife backed all of it up, and has had some treatments also. They are friends of DR M's so they are pulling some strings to try to get me in so I can give it a try, but I haven't heard back yet.

The pricing is noted near the bottom of that article, and if the treatment helps, I don't think it's priced too bad. It stinks to have to pay out of pocket for things when your PCP doesn't support you, but if this is what it takes.......... I'm willing to give it a go.

My main objective is to get better, and to feel better while getting better, too.

I tend to think fighting pain can just really sap your energy all the more, and so if you can achieve relief from that pain, your body should have an easier time focusing on fighting the root of the problem, not just the symptoms, ya know?

If I can get in and try this, I'll be sure to post on my experience and the results..... *fingers crossed* for good things!!

I hope you'll tell us here of the results/experience of this treatment. And how long the good results lasted.

I also hope (in case it was a waste of time) you'll report back to us afterwards.

We can never have too much information.

Yes, I absolutely will.... that is, IF I can get in, LOL

I'm going to give it a try, and I will let you all know what comes of it.

You're right,... you can never have too much information,.. as well as that saying of, 'there's no such thing as a stupid question'. I know some people beg to differ on that one, but IMO, if ya don't know, ya don't know! That doesn't necc make one stupid... like one of the quotes in my siggy says: "The unanswered questions aren't nearly as dangerous as the unquestioned answers."

By microcurrency, are you referring to the rife machine? It uses electrical frequencies but you have to know which bacteria you have, and what frequency that particular one needs to kill it. Everyone needs the treatment for a different amount oftime, and you can get a very bad herx eaction if you use it for too long, which may be a few minutes. Bryan Rosner wrote a book about rife machines which you should read before doing this.

No, it's not Rife... Here's another link that better explains:

http://www.frequencyspecific.com/papers/devinstarlanyl.pdf

I still haven't heard back from them.

Thank you for the tip, and the concern though,.. I am sure this is simialr enough that it still applies. I have wondered about herxing from it as well. Don't even know whether I can get in. The lady that referred me, told them about the Lyme so maybe that turned them off??

Hmmmmm,.... there's too much bias out there.

That, or they're just really busy, too, perhaps. And, I was told that Dr M is having hip surgery or something on the 11th, but I still thought I'd hear from one of the partners during her leave. ???

Oh well for now, I guess.... my main goal for starters is to find a decent LLMD to get in with! There's another thorn in my side...
