"Lyme disease and babesia" (BlueCheetah)

MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

I'm taking Clarithromycin but I struggle with gastritis, and in the past couple days I've been starting to feel signs of it flaring up again. I haven't been able to get in touch with my LLMD and probably won't be able to until monday so I'm asking here first, are there any alternatives to swallowing solid pills, or maybe a more gentle antibiotic?

I was on the same thing, I ate toast before I took it, and and hour after I ate FOOD. I have a very bad stomach and I found this to help a lot. You can also get liquid form (which I did and it was better)...

thanks, I'll try that. Did it also give you a horrible taste in your mouth, like chewing on aspirin all day? yuck!

God yes, it was awful. Try putting it into Applesauce then taking the pill, that also helped a little. Or try and get it way in the back and take it fast...lol The taste was awful. I was on it for 3 months, then had a reaction to it, woke up with hives all over my body, but then I was lucky to be able to take it, I'm allergic to 99% of most abx on the market, makes it hard for my poor doctor.

You can also get it in a flavor (if you get liquid) I got strawberry...That way you can get it way back and just swallow, you still get a little of the taste but not so bad...

The taste in my mouth comes about an hour after I take it and lasts for a few hours. I have to constantly chew gum or sip water to get rid of it. I called the pharmacist and was told that's a very normal reaction, but it sucks!
