djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

The following link is to an article found on examiner.com. The article was published in December 2011.

There are some very good points made in this article. Leaves one pondering, for sure.

(I say this as my husband is having yet another flare up of sudden onset flu-like symptoms.)

The evidence is becoming pretty clear that LD is sexually transmitted. Mothers have been known to pass it on to their babies. One person I know has five children, all of them have LD.

Here's some more evidence that it can be passed on sexually AND through oral transmission as well.

It can even be passed on orally.

This is a partial note from a blogger who listened in on Dr. Klinghardt's phone seminar that he gave on Oct. 4, 2011. Don't know who this blogger is but I provided the website source below for you to go to if you'd like. Here's what Dr. K has to say about LD being spread sexually and otherwise:

"New kinds of spirochetes are found often. There are over 300 sub types of spirochetes. He says it is airborne now and can come from a sneeze and there is no question that Lyme disease is sexually transmitted. He has patients who have passed Lyme disease to their mate. He says Lyme disease can definitely be spread through kissing and definitely through breast milk. The spirochetes are able to move and spread quickly. Our immune system is not prepared for the spirochete."

--------------------------------------------

This blogger added this comment:

"My personal practitioner believes that Lyme disease can be transmitted sexually. She recommends practicing safe sex so you do not give Lyme disease to your mate and then have it returned to you in a new mutated strain or form. She believes it is difficult to get well that without practicing safe sex."

Source: http://lettherebeelight.blogspot.com/2011/10/my-notes-from- dr-klinghardts-phone.html

Dr. Klinghardt has said a number of times that he believes that LD is a STD. Numerous other LLMD's and LLND's believe this to be true as well.

this is probably an ignorant question but, is it transmittable when you're in remission, or only when you have an active infection?

My LLMD doesn't feel it is transmittable after starting treatment.

luvmountains, you've asked a valid question. I've provided some informational links for you to read. You will have to come to your own conclusion about this.

The Red Cross says if you've been treated for LD you can give blood. Do you want to be given a blood transfusion from someone who "had" lyme disease?

I got LD from a blood transfusion during a botched surgery I had, not a tick bite. All I can say is, better to be safe than sorry. I would not want to give this disease to my worst enemy, much less someone I loved and cared for.

Luvmountains - IMO, regardless if I was in treatment or remission, I would view any person that I would/may become involved with as being possibly infected.

I don't view LD & Co any different than any other STD. Honestly, I would protect myself, no matter what. Better to be safe than sorry.
