Hello Ladies, Well I also have a tat, it was my first. I thought that was my midlife crisis ten years ago. It is a very coloful Island, mountains, ocean and palm trees and a bird or two. It is located on the small of my back and just peeks out of my jeans a little. Not at unappropriate time though! LOL Well then I had went and peirced my navel at the age of 40. Since I never was blessed with children I thought My belly was plenty shapely and firm enough to wear short tops at appropriate times and places. Like the Bike week thing and the like. So that was my mid life crisis and the same year went to see Sir Elton John at Radio City music Hall in Ny City. It was one of the best birthday gifts I have received.

So I guess I am not always the good girl as I am perceived to be, especailly when I run into a co-worker or old friend dressed in my Motorcycle gear. They seem to a bit surprised, but hey what the heck it's fun, enjoyable and a great stress reliever.

So I sex it up a bit and flaunt the belly and tat, but mostly around the biker crowd.

By the way this was a great idea Jaime.

nothin wrong with having a wild side and gettin sexed up a bit! I love it! we're allowed to feel sexy even if we feel sick. In fact, I always put make up on in the morning no matter how bad I feel, if I look like crap, I feel worse and worse.... you go girl!

Okay, I think I have to jump in on this one. I'm feeling a bit left out though. I have no tattoo but have always wanted one! My good friend and I have always joked about going and having a few drinks and then heading to the local tattoo parlor. How can I justify to my children getting a tattoo at the age of 41? Midlife crisis maybe?? I'm not sure why I don't already have a tattoo. Maybe it's because I'm God fearing (Will I get in to the pearly gates of heaven with a skull and crossbones tattoo?), an overanalyzer (How far from my body will my tattoo be hanging at the ripe old age of 80?), or just plain scared (What if the tattoo artist does a lousy job and I just plain hate it?) I currently live out my tattoo fantasies by watching L.A. Ink and Hollywood Ink. If I knew Kat Von D would do my tattoo I would definitely consider letting her do a black and gray portrait somewhere on this body of mine!

goldfinch, you're too young for a mid-life crisis! And I'd think twice about getting a tattoo, especially given that Lymes, FM, CF and the like make it more likely that one could have a negative reaction to new ink.

Here's a little blurb on just that:

"One of the most common health problems with body tattoos is allergic reactions to the ink. Body tattoos can also cause skin infections and chronic skin ailments. Examples of recurring skin ailments include psoriasis and dermatitis. Body tattoos can also cause tumors which may be benign, or even malignant.

If these deadly dangers don't make you think twice about getting a tattoo, then consider the fact that getting a body tattoo puts you at the risk of contracting tetanus, HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, and even Syphilis. Hepatitis C alone claims more than 10,000 lives every year!"

Perhaps a meditation habit would be better for that pending mid-life crisis?

To your health and joy,

Garret

Garrett,

Perhaps you are right and that's why I have no tattoo thus far. I have a quirky sense of humor and was just trying to raise a few laughs. If there's no tattoo by now there MOST PROBABLY will NOT be one in the foreseeable future. Thanks for the information!

Michelle

Thus is why I have it where I won't have to watch it sag and go south! I have it on the small of my back, this way I can show it if I want to and then when and if it or I get to old and saggy, I have the option to hide it! LOL... I don't have sculls and crossbones though! LOL. Thta's exactly what I did, (I was 35) had a couple of drinks, then went for the tatoo. It didn't help much! I went through an entire roll of paper towels from sweating so badly! After the first half hour or so I became used to it, It actually kind of tickled! My second mid-life crisis is the naval ring, I was 40 when I got that!

My Husband loves tha Tat, The naval ring too! just as an FYI
