During my illness I have gained a lot of weight, need to loose about 20 pounds and it feels impossible. I have decided to start and need some kind of carrot. Anyone out there for a Lymie weight challlenge.

Since my illness have come back I also need to start to get back on an antiinflammatory diet that cuts fast carbohydrates out. ( Will probably not cut out my glass of wine though)

Tina

I am right there with ya...I am trying to adjust the diet for the entire family...wrong time of the year tho...so says the Hubby...havent lost much weight from the baby and she is almost 2 - plus the gain from the Lyrica - YUCKO - cant stand how I look - but I cant do without the lyrica...has helped me more then anything else...

Have begun juicing...3 carrots, 1 granny smith apple, 2 cups of cranberries...sometimes a med beet and a wedge of lemon - alternate celery with the beet...

Have been getting a rice pasta - homemade sauce with turkey meatballs...kiddos loved it

Also a spinich pasta (with artichoke flour) sauted garlic in olive oil, brocoli & diced chicken - then to get all to eat it, tossed with parm cheese...big fav too

Been working hard at making roasts - slow roasted, chicken, and steak salads...

Great now I am hungry...guess i better find something healthy...have been munchin on raspberries as they are sweet and fill some of the cravings....

OK - enough of all that!!!

I went out and got myself some gluten free stuff for snacking and have been eating as fresh as possible...no bread, no pasta, no flour,etc... I also am cutting out dairy for the sake of the antibiotic. I don't really feel a difference...how long before I feel any result from the new diet?

Count me in, girls!! Great idea, Tina!

We can work at holding eachother accountable, LOL

I need to lose 30-40#... *sniffle*

I want to get a juicer... can't afford one yet. My rice cooker is in storage, as is a LOT of my stuff (because we are trying to move) so I am limited. Everything that would make preparing things easier on me. I have gotten in a bad habit of convenience foods and need to get away from that.

Dharma, I am not sure, and I bet Christine will have a better answer for you, but I believe from what I have read up on it, that going gluten-free can take a couple of weeks to begin feeling the benefits... It takes some time to finish getting what's already in your system all the way out. It looks like to me that the average turn around is between 2-4 weeks, is that clsoe, Christine??

Although I do know that some people can start seeing results right away. When we first switched off casein, etc. my daughter saw results after just a couple of days, and then we just continued to see further & further improvements oer the course of that first month once her system was flushed of the residuals still in her system.

Hmmmm, exercises??? I am trying to figure out how to get myself back into doing something. I have had such a bad episode that I have spent by far too much time in bed lately. I have an oval jogger/rebounder with the stabilizer bar and that has served me best... no impact. And with the bar, I don't have to worry about losing my balance and falling off..... which is a real concern these days.

I also have one of those big medicine balls or whatever,. the giant ones you sit on and bounce or balance. I have to pick & choose when I can use it though because my hips are so bad now. Just that little bit can cause a great deal of pain so I haven't been using it. I also have one of those balance boards you stand on... on a circle board with a half ball on the underside. You're only a couple inches off the floor and you just use your leg muscles to stand there, balanced. I have to pick & choose that one, too,.... So, the rebounder is my best choice right now. I was told by someone here on MDJ that it's EXCELLENT for supporting your Lymph system, too.

How shall we do this?? Add tips & whatnot that we're doing/not doing, and then post weekly progress reports or something? Or should we try to check in more regularly so we can attempt at holding eachother accountable..... ie "Did you exercise today??"

wow this is going somewhere - Good Call Tina!

Dharma - like Beauty said, it can take a while for some while for others it can be quick...when I first went GF years ago, I didnt realize the difference until I ate something with gluten - Oh was I sorry - my body felt like I got run over...so try that if you dare. Otherwise just resign a mental attitude that it is helping...

Well my exercise is stacking and moving wood for our stove...I hope it counts...I sure do get a work out.

IDK how we do it - I guess we just do - post how we are doing and such I gather...

Oh Julz - posting my weight - I refuse to know what it is - but I bet it is upwards of oh 170+ - YUCKO!!!!!!

Anyway - have spent all day procrastinating - so I am loggin off and getting some stuff done.

We're putting our weight down?? LOL Shoot! Ummm, well, I'm the heaviest then I think, darn it.... I am about 186 *gasp* BUT, I will say, that when I had Grave's Disease I had gotten down to 140 and I looked SKELETAL because of my bone structure. I do have larger bone structure than those who have a 'petite' build (I h8 you... J/K!! LOL )... so I have always looked my best at about 150,... less than that and I literally start having bones stick out such as my collar bone, my shoulder blades, my hip bones, and so forth. I looked almost anorexic at 140 so I have really had to try to stop looking at "the number", and focus more on how I look and feel. Do I 'look" healthy and do I "feel" healthy,..... but you know, that "number" thing is always a toughie, I think, for most women. I despise where I'm at right now... 30# lighter, I will be happy, and I will "look" like I'm only 120, LOL

And, stacking wood most definitely counts in my book, Christine,.. that's hard work!! And, you're doing more than I have been lately...

Okay, I will set my metric scale in the pound range, I am almost up to 70 kg, I bet that is about 155 and I am only 5.1. 2000 when I got married I manage to get down to 126 and I looked great, know that was an extreme challange, I will be very happy if I can loose 20. I will get the official number in the beginning of next week. Maybe we can kee this tread at the forum as our regular updating tool, post whenever we feel like it. I got a great book about green jouising, I will post the title later when I find it. And I will start to try some recepies. When I try to diet I am into soups, both ready made and home made. I think it is great to post recepies and all kind of inspiring things here.

Just thinking, maybe it is better to keep two threads, one with only date and weight and one with all this other stuff. Left report to our weight thread once a week starting for example mon. (so we can be bad this weekend). I will post it under weight report for weight challange.

One more thing, for every pound I loose I will donate a dollar to a person or organisation who is doing anything to help and improve Lyme patients. I think I might choose the Swedish Lyme Patient organisation but am open for othe r suggestions.

Anyone else up for this, I know we are all pretty broke with all our medical bills, unability to work, supplements etc. but I will definately be able to manage this, it will hopefully be at lest 20 dollars(hope I am not dreaming too much). Lets give us six months. I read that the best rate to loose weight is about a pound per week and you need to cut 500 calories out of your daily diet. I will try to do 250 from food and 250 from exercise. That sounds manageble.

I wish us all good luck, I have no clothes left that fits and refuse to go buing new size 14!, I would like to be a happy size 8 to 10
