okay, I don't usually write in this section, so this is out of my ballpark. However, when I talk about my amazing experiences with hippotherapy, I get all fuzzy and energized! Please hang tight and listen, for my concentration is low, and we may go on a bumpy ride!

First thing, I should say that I love horses, like a lot of teenage girls out there. A lot of adults love them and guys, but mostly us girls, and I'd like to share that its ok to have an amazing interest in this expensive and time consuming topic! I thought we'd never have the money or time to be at a barn once a week! Wow, was I wrong! God can make it happen, and he did after my years of frustration through family financial chrisist, and the fire of prayer that burnt so deep inside me! I would read books, and be the main character, see what she was seeing, learn the way she learned, thought how her brain would lead me, too...... Sounds weird, I know, but like I said, hold on tight..... So it was winter up here in cold New England, and I was starting to lose hope through the headaches and body pain, which we though was just untreatable at the time (we know better now!), And our pediatrician, told us about a brochure someone dropped off at her office. She copied it off real quick and gave it to us, saying it was a different type of therapy, something with horses, called hippotherapy (we thought she said hypnotherapy, in which my mom was really confused about). In the car, I told her how I absolutley positively would completely LOVE to go work with horses. 'Don't get your hopes up', she'd say to me. Alright, my energy is starting to run low, so the moral is we looked up the site, thought about it, called, found out how totally expensive it was for us (!!!) and left the idea at the grave..... until my mom surprised me one night by saying that the awesome instructor, Toby, had bargained a deal for a cheap lesson (not including the incredible 45 minute ride we'd have to take). The first session we decided I am an independent rider that needs a saddle. The rest from then on (every saturday) have been one-on-one lessons with the best instructor in the world! Toby Freeman is the nicest, coolest, absolutely greatest person that cares about her possesions (the children) SO much, she'd jump in front of a train for them (honestly, what a role model, and she listens to them and changes to fit their needs! I adore her so much, honestly, look up her site, she's an angel....

So i now take a lesson, and I stay all day and help side walk with the other kids. I also get a WICKED cool cheap price for hanging around with her. And I try to keep in touch as much as I can, And one more thing that should be clear as glass, therapuetic riding and hippotherapy at horsetalk are EXTREMELY different things.....

So what an adventure to live through again, I enjoyed that! Hopefully your still reading this, lol, I know I am a long writer.....

And I see her, the OT, and the instructor/leader whenever I go, it's neat! I am partailly lonely when I am not around them, considering they're the only friends I have when i'm completely down and out, and they have sticked by me for the most part. I mean, after all we live two different worlds apart, and they have lives too! But I respect them and tell them everything. All the new staff that comes in and out too, they're pretty cool.

Wow am I tired now, that outback food was yummylicious!

<3, hope you all can share the passion, god bless and feel well!

Hi Elaina,

I'm so sorry for all that you are going through. You are so knowledgable and wise for a 13 year old. You are so right about the Dr.s out there, they are not equipped to deal with our illness, so good for all of us for doing all the necessary research.

You are so fortunate to have your hippotherapy. I love horses too, mine are what get me going a lot of days when I just don't feel up to it. They depend on me so I have to get out there every morning. If you were close I would love to have you come and spend time with my mares, they are characters and you would like them.

Keep looking for answers, you will get well, you have to believe that. I remind my son of that all the time when he gets down with this nasty disease. We all need to find our way to wellness and we will.

Hope you have a great day with the horses and your friends tomorow. PM me any time.

Ann
