Hello,

I am in hopes of finding some information and help.

I think I might have Lyme Disease but am unsure. I have been really sick for 2 weeks now with fever, severe headaches, rash, joint pain, hurts to walk , fatigue, neck pain/stiffness, burning in my knees and legs. I thought at first I had the flu. But its gone on for weeks now .

Not sure what to do at this point. I have had a tick bite that embedded years ago. Just recently I also had another one but it didnt embed into the skin.

Is it possible to still have lyme disease without a bite or for this long?

Should I ask my primary doctor or see a specialist.

I am just uncertain what to do and would like to talk to others that might can help shed some information or light as to how to guide me in the right direction.

I just want to feel better and nothing is working.

Woke up this morning feeling so bad. I made a decision to call my MD and have some blood work done. I know all this isnt in my head.

I have had a brain aneurysm back in 2001 & survived. Was sick a long time from it but this is totally different. You know when something isnt right with your body & I would like to have answers to what is happening to me.

Thanks for listening at least. I hate feeling alone in this right now & the unknown.

Hey TAB03,

You are not alone.

You did the smart thing, calling your doctor. Just ask him to do a Lyme test (titer) and see what it shows. If you were bitten two weeks ago and infected then, you should test positive, but you might not. If you tell your doc you were bitten, they might go ahead and do a month of antibiotics to be safe, and that may be all it takes.

If you are now reacting to a bite from years ago, then it's possible it has been latent in your system all this time and has sensed a weakness in your immune system, and attacked. The same steps still apply here...blood work to test and see what it says. Again, the doc may choose to proceed with a month of antibiotics to see how you feel. After that, there are a myriad of things that can happen. No one can say for sure, because it is different for all infected persons.

If the test comes back negative and the doc says no to antibiotics, see what he does suggest and see how you continue to feel.

Your doc may start sending you to all kinds of specialists for testing (or you may choose to do this), and you could get any combination of mixed results, or be told you are completely normal. Like I said, lot's could start happening, depending on your blood work.

Hopefully you will get that back soon. Please let me (us) know what you find out. I wish you the best. If you need to talk more, you can send me a PM, or I will see you here on the boards.

Tom

Thank you so much Tom for answering my cry for help here. I did talk to the doctor today and I have an appt. this afternoon to see him and be tested. I gave him my s/s and he said it sounded like Rocky mountain spotted fever. That lyme disease isnt that common here. But I think he is wrong on that part.

In 2001 I had a brain aneurysm and am a survivor of that. So I know when my body isnt right. I know I am not crazy. I am a retired nurse because of the aneurysm but I had to even fight to get tested for that . So we all know when something is wrong and I truly believe I have been infected but want to be tested properly. Thank you for the suggestion of the Titer Test. I will ask for that.

Thank you again for also not letting me feel alone of this unknown disease.

I appreciate your response and yes I will PM you also.

I will let you know my outcome.

Thanks for listening

TA
