MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for your reply. I am glad you are on the road to recovery.

Magnesium Lactate is the way to go according to my doc. It is more easily absorbed and doesn't give you the runs. The best brand is SP or Standard Process. You might be able to find it online. If not, send my a private message and I will tell you where you can buy it. I am taking 6 pills a day, each pill has 210 mg of Magnesium.

Good luck and please share your progress with us!

Thanks.

Well in Wisconsin

Ruth,If you do not mind me asking, what specific protocol are you currently on.

Hi Susan, I don't mind sharing at all; that's why we're all here, to learn what helps others that might help us too!!

Here is what the "regime", per/Dr. Sam D, is:

------------------------------------------

Tetracycline 500mg 3/day

For Summer: discontinue Tetracycline

Biaxin 500 mg 2/day plus Plaquenil 200 mg 2/day

------------------------------------------

Here is what Dr. D had to say to me:

"The Biaxin and Plaquenil would be taken together twice daily with food, and the tetracycline would be discontinued. You would take the meds for at least 3 months, preferably 6-8 months. You should not take any supplemental B or C vitamins during the treatment process."

In another email he replied:

"Hopefully, you've been able to tolerate a few months worth of tetracycline to get the most out of this round of treatment. As we head into sunny season, I usually use combination of Biaxin and Plaquenil thru the summer months."

------------------------

Dr. Sam D is retired from Boston Medical University; he was in research there & also in practice. Currently, he has a practice on Cape Cod.

Before starting his protocol or regime, as I call it, I was on so many different abx that it took 3 computer generated pages to list all of them. I had to have them printed out for my new LLMD to go over. The big problem, I feel, was all previous treatments lasted 1 month before I was given something different to take. There are some abx that it takes several months before they build up enough in your system to begin showing positive signs.

Whether my past LLMD was overly cautious, I don't know, but he wouldn't listen to me when I wanted to try this particular regime. I'm very vocal about my treatment!!! That's why I was never on IV's; I said NO!!! IF he had put me on the regime, I might be completely over all this now! It makes me so mad to think I could be over it & on with my life instead of still fighting.

OH WELL, what's past is past, I can't do anything about it, but my future with Lyme might soon be part of that past! A past I never want to visit again!!!

Ruth
