Hi Everyone!!! I have a little advice I have found helpful when I went through the "itchy skin" thing. My skin would itch so badly on my legs & arms that I would rub and/or scratch until I had awful bruises. My skin itched so badly it hurt!! One day, out of desperation, I tried this & it worked great. Now every time I have an itch, not Lyme related because that's gone now, I get my bottle out.

What I have found so very helpful is Sooth-A-Caine by Banana Boat. It's a gel used for sunburn pain; the active ingredient is Lidocaine which is a topical anesthesia. You don't have to get that particular brand; any product with a topical anesthesia should work the same. The gel for sunburns is Aloe, so it rubs in, leaves no color & has next to no odor.

My previous LLMD suggested a sports cream with pepper in it. Well that worked fine, while I was awake, but if I had to have it on & go to bed, then my skin burned & would wake me up "if" I was able to fall asleep!!

For those of you who have burning skin, you might give this a try; couldn't hurt!! The topical anesthesia would numb the skin & might help with the burning too; I don't know because I've never had the burning.

Just a thought, Ruth

Hi Julie, I'm not real sure, but my previous LLMD said the itching was caused by the bacteria causing irritation of the nerves under the skin; I would thing the same would be true for burning. Ruth

AAAAUUUGGGHHHHH!!!! Thank you, Ruth!!! I've tried lidocaine and it does work better than anything else. When I am going nuts, ice works the best but you have to sit there and hold it on different parts of your body. Also, I have chills 24/7 so it makes me feel a little sicker.

But you're right, the lidocaine works the best.
