Hello,

I have joined this group becuase my husband has been battling with Lyme's for a few years now. I am seeking some answers and solutions for him. Like many his blood tests always come out negative and doctors are not willing to treat him because they think that he has fibromyalgia. He has been bitten to his knowledge at least 12 times while working out in the deep woods for more than 5 years. And 3 different doctors have told him that he is "just lucky" that he never got the disease. 2 years ago he was getting treatment from a hollistic doctor but all of those antibiotics made him very sick. I am now interested in finding other alternatives to treating him.

what has he previously taken?

If he did get worse - but didnt have allergic and/or adverse reactions,,,then it could have been the herxing process...which is normal...sometimes herxing can kick our butts...

do you have an LLMD for him (Lyme Literate MD)?

Pm me where you are and where you can travel and I will see if I can find you one...

Hang in = also diet changes are good to make too,,,

Dont have time right now for specifics - but look around - you will find suggestions...

Christine

I suggest you have his blood work sent to Igenex labs. CDC is selective on their positive and dont test all bands.

There are natural ways and everyone has to decide how to deal with this disease. Look at old posts on natural remedies.

Im happy to see you are being proactive for him. Alot of us dont have our spouses support

toothfairy55,

He has already sent his blood work to that lab. His test come back neg but his bacterial count is extremely high. The doctor that he was seeing was treating him for lymes plus 2 other TBd's. The Antibiotics were making him very sick...but they were working.

Hello there,

When someone truly has Lyme disease, their symptoms may intensify when antibiotics are introduced. The patient may also experience new Lyme symptoms as well. This is referred to as a Herxheimer reaction. These reactions are also seen in those that are being treated for Syphillis. If a patient does not experience Herxheimer reactions at some point during treatment, a Lyme specialist will question there diagnosis of Lyme disease. Thus, Herxheimer reactions are a good sign. It means the bacteria is dying. As the patient continues treatment, the herxheimer reactions usually fade and the patient's intial Lyme-related complaints will often end. If symptoms persist, the patient may have undetected co-infections.

God bless,

Elaine

Elaine...

Not everyone herxes...I for one, only had mild herxes SOME of the time...depending on the abx...when my mother was first put on Biaxin and Plaquenal, she didnt herx for the entire 11 months she was on it...

She stopped...after a few months symptoms flared up big time - went back on Biaxin and Plaquenal - and WHAMMO - she began herxing...

Doc said that it is common to not herx initially..and then do so later on...

Martha,

is your husband taking a GOOD probiotic? I don't think diahreah is part of a herx, it's more a reaction to the abx, and very common. a good probiotic will help this. you want one with several strains, you can get good ones at a healthfood store, or check out www.iherb.com

a herx basically is a die off of the bacteria, a toxin overload so to speak. you will get a worsening of symptoms, and new ones can appear.

go to the fact section of the lyme groups here, and read about detoxing, that will help with a herx as well, there's a great thread in there about all kinds of stuff. as well as tons of other info, great place to learn. we've put a lot of work into it.

pm me if you need anything, best way to get a hold of me, I'm usually stuck in my inbox getting doctors lists for people

warmest regards

jaime
