MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago, did Doxy for 30 days and seemingly all symptoms are gone accept a lingering breathing anxiety seemingly brought on by Caffeine and possibly any coffee.

I am joining here because my son Matt had Lyme at 4, caught early

after bullseye, now at 11, he just got diagnosed with bells Palsy, and his lyme titer and wstern blot came back positive, so he is on Doxy for 28days.

Question can you get reinfected again?

He had no signs before this, very active hockey player...I am very frustrated with this out of control disease and feel helpless.

I am worried about this now altering his life more where when he had it before it seemed we got it early.Sad Sad Sad Sad

Welcome!

I can guarantee you that the 28 days on antibiotics will not be enough to kill the Lyme.

Most doctors are under the notion (the old school understanding) that Lyme can be killed within 2 weeks of antibiotics.

It depends on how "early" you caught the Lyme which will determine if the antibiotics actually work

You can get reinfected but the Lyme can also go dormant which can create the illusion of "reinfection"

Stress, anxiety and traumatic life event can re trigger Lyme Disease.

Why? Because stress and trauma suppress the immune system which is what has been suppressing the Lymes.

I assume you're seeing a regular family doctor (M.D.) based on the protocol you've described.

My advice and your next step, if you haven't already, is to see an LLMD immediately.

You have to get your son under the right care so he gets the appropriate treatment.

Take it one step at a time and be confident that your son is going to be ok!! Wink

I'm an Advocate

dear mom,

YES, he can get reinfected; even more than twice i'm sorry to say!

bell's pulsy is a side effect of advanced chronic lyme disease.

yes, for a recent bite, matt needs to be on 3 months straight of antibiotics; 2 MONTHS SHOWING NO SYMPTOMS BEFORE DISCONTINUING or he'll become chronic lyme again.

you;ve got to get him MORE ANTITIOBICS; don't let him run out and then nothing. the spirochete are being killed now, you've got to pursue this.

post in llmd request forum, the link is in myshort welcome below. put your son's age in subject line + your state.

copy/paste the direct link of your post there to the NEW POST IN LLMD REQUEST FORUM; NOT posting in support forum.

we only have 45+ kids llmds NATIONWIDE!

Betty’s suggested posting guidelines:

Many of members have neuro lyme, and it is hard to read long solid block text and be able to comprehend; example, me, 42.5 yrs. neuro chronic lyme, so we are able to comprehend and read. Thank you for helping us help YOU Wink

please post in short paragraphs like you see below or look at a few other posts, but we neuro folks need them short.

1-2 sentences MAX and hit ENTER TWICE to doublespace between each paragraph; we neuros loose our train of thought if it is broken up in the middle unless it goes on FOREVER! hugs

For easier reading, please edit your post. You can break up your longer paragraphs into smaller paragraphs. Please hit ENTER key twice after each paragraph.

Go to left hand corner; click edit send. Then go to bottom and click SUBSCRIBE TO THIS DISCUSSION.

Thank you for posting in a manner that makes it easier for all to read and help others.

Please, please take him to an LLMD. Neurological complications of Lyme are persistent and serious without treatment.

I have a 10 year old son, so I can imagine what you are going through. For the sake of his quality of life, for the rest of his life, please get him into treatment with a Lyme Literate doctor asap.

He needs you to fight for him now. And I'm sure you will Smile It will make the difference between your son gaining his health back and a lifetime of increasing neurological and musculoskeletal issues.

Best wishes to you and your family as you combat this insidious disease. You are in the right place! We are here for you.

I am not a doctor, just a patient striving for recovery and hoping to offer support to others, too! Many blessings to you!
