Hello, My name is John. From what my doctor and I have concluded was that I contracted Lyme disease in the summer of 2001. I took three trips to Tennessee and Kentucky where we beleived that I was bitten by a tick there. I also contracted HME and Babeosis which have made things worse. This is because HME is more prevalent in the southern states than in the north. HGE is more prevalent in the northern states and New England. I then went on a downward spiral on my health for the next few years as these diseases overran my system. Then after a very tough divorce in 2005 I began to really get sick. Finally in April of 2006 I became so Ill that I could not work anymore or continue to go to college. I was in and out of the Hospital and the doctor's office for 18 months while the doctors stated it was all in my head and that I was just crazy and not really sick. The doctors would not allow me to schedule anymore appointments and I was on my 3rd PCP when my sister called the CDC. They referred me to a doctor who treats lyme. He ran tests and finally I got my answer that I had lyme through a western blot test. Now I am currently struggling to regain any portion of my humanity that I can. Lyme disease came into my life and destroyed it. Even though I am improving from the treatment I still have a long way to go. And that basically is where I am at now in my life. Well thanks for taking time out to read my horror story.

John

Hi John,

Welcome to the group! Buckron brought up a good point. Active Lyme can make a person pretty unhappy, especially when you're un/misdiagnosed. It's awful.

My tick bites were in Tennessee, too. I live in Tennessee, but my doctor told me that Lyme is only in the North.

Are you seeing an LLMD? What kind of doctor is treating you? You obviously have chronic lyme and will need a lot of antibiotics, natural or otherwise, to conquer these complex tick borne illnesses. I had all the coinfections, too. However, I want you to know that we can get better. I recovered twice. The second time was this year, just a few months after I recovered the first time. The second time was easier to 'eradicate' thanks to my new and improved immune system. I found a doctor in the Southeast that helped bring me back to life.

I hope you are taking probiotics every day. It's a must while you are on antibiotics. THere are many other supplements that some of us take. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

We all know exactly how you feel. You are not alone. We can get better from this devastating illness.

Again, feel free to ask any questions.

Peace,

Connie

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

I'm sure Lyme did not help with my marriage, so yes most likely it did contribute to it's end. Lyme at first makes you sick but you don't realize that you are sick until it really overtakes you and by then it's hard to trace when and where you had first contact. My divorce was mostly due to infidellitys by my ex-wife. Which makes me wonder if she too may have had Lyme. She started acting strange all of a sudden at the end our time together and boom that was the end of the marrige. I no longer talk to her so I have no idea if that might be the case. It might as well be. We both spent alot of time in the woods in Tennessee and Kentucky during that summer.

Yes, I see a very good LLMD in New Jersey. He is a MD doctor of Internal Medicine. I take high doses of acidopholus to conteract the effects of the antibiotics on my digestive system.

John, I'm new here, but just read your story. I'm sorry for all your suffering. You have a good constitution, and you are going to get well. That is key for me, in my head I know I can heal from this and move on.

Much Healing to you John.
