MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hi! My name is Scott and in a nutshell I was bit by a tick about 3 weeks ago, became majorly sick two weeks later (fevers, chills, muscle pain and massive headaches) for about 5 days straight until a dr put me on doxycycline. Right now I feel fine on the antibiotics, but no one wants to check on me for at least 4 weeks and the clock is ticking. They've ruled out many things, but have not tested for Lyme disease, yet.

Any suggestions? I saw some suggestions for cat's claw, vitamin C, etc.

Connie, who is the dr you recommend in Atlanta?

Thank you so much!

I nearly forgot, I also had bumps or a rash break out about the 4th day of the symptoms (first on my arms and legs, than on my torso). Sound like Lyme disease?

I had the same rash, not a bulls eye..a large round rash on my chest and torso. On close inspection it consisted of a series of bumps in a chain for say 3/4" long.It was so itchy i scratched until it started bleeding then it went away in 2 weeks. My other Lyme symptoms started after that like the night sweats and chills. Good luck!

Hey, buckron. I noticed on another one of your posts you mentioned diabetic as a symptom. Is that true? I'm a relatively healthy guy and my primary care physician told me in this whole mess that my blood sugar is elevated and I'm showing signs of heading toward diabetes. It makes no sense.

Yes its true,I never had diabetes before this Lyme crap. The Doc took my blood sugar and made a quick assumption i was a new diabetic, she dismissed my joint pain as a mental issue as the xrays and RA factor were negative. As you can guess i now do not trust her and her hasty diagnoses.I told her i had tingling numbness in my finger tips, she was quick to say "diabetic neuropathy" I looked it up... you have to be a diabetic for like 20 years before that type of nerve damage happens. Now i am mad at her, we have entered a new era..the patients are armed with their PCs and as far as i am concerned many times have more knowledge about their condition than the docs do.Sometimes i think they just dont care as long as they have that script written all is well.Sorry but i feel quite strong about this because of my negative doc encounter.

Take Doxy for at least 6 weeks. Blood test doesn't turn positive for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Acute Lyme is easy to cure. If symptoms return see a LLMD.
I am a family doctor in Germantown Maryland. I have been treating Lyme for several years and have treated between 500 and 1000 patients. I am learning all the time. I don't claim to have all the answers. I answer questions because I want to help people. Everything about this disease is controversial. I want to write a book which will be a patient guide to Lyme, so questions from patients are helpful to me.

Hi Scottg and welcome to this site.

Please check your pms for an answer to your inquiry about my doctor.

Samento was my major natural antibiotic. I used Samento by Nutramedix. I believe you can order it online. Be sure and tell your doctor if you use it. Are you seeing an LLMD? or just a family practioner??

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.
