My hubby was diagnosed with Lyme 2 months ago. We went through years of testing and misdiagnosis (they thought it was MS), a neurologist told him it was just depression and to take pills, and even after a positive test the CDC came in and said no it wasn't because the western b. was neg. Our MD wasn't satisfied so he sent samples to Igenex (spelling?) anyway, they said it was a deffinite positive but he had had it so long his body wasn't really fighting anymore.

His symptoms were neurological (balance, trouble walking, marionette-like movement, memory problems, difficulty concentrating...etc. The list could go on and on. It had taken up permanent residence in his brain and I felt like I didn't even know my husband anymore.

We are lucky and have a wonderful MD who has really studied Lyme. We asked about Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy and found it really has great results when used in conjunction with intravenous Rocephin. He has done over 50 "dives" and has been on the IV for a month.

I am seeing my husband again more and more. I know it will take a long time to heal his brain and some of the damage may be permanent (they think he has had this untreated for 21 years), but I am hopefull and so pleased with the results we are already seeing.

Has anyone else tried this treatment? It is working for us.

As I understand it, the oxygen forces the bacteria out into the open where the antibiotic can kill it. This is especially important for people who have had this a long time and the bacteria has had a chance to burrow deep into the system. (Very simple explination...I am sure a doctor or scientist could explain it better)

Hello and welcome!

My Dr. also suggests HBO treatments along with natural antibiotics and other supportive treatments. I am glad the treatments your husband is on are working for him. I'm sorry it took so long to get diagnosed.

Good luck and take care, Denise

I also am not sure if I actually have Lyme but I'm being treated for it. I've done 40 hboc treatments along with UVB, hydrogen peroxide IV, detox saunas, detox diet, etc. I cannot say that I feel any better yet but I have not combined antibiotics with the hboc...maybe that's the trick. I'm adding silver IVs to my treatment starting Thursday. I'm giving it a month and if I don't feel any better then I'm going to try antibiotics.

Good luck

The treatments do seem to work best together. Good luck to all of you. It is amazing how little is known about this horrible disease. If I can help anyone get intouch with a dr who supports Hyperbaric Oxygen let me know.

Just an update...

Craig is doing really well. He was just re-tested and his lyme levels are way down. He is starting to feel more himself and is able to skip treatments for several days at a time without problems. He is enjoying life again. Check with your doctor. It is worth every penny!

We started with 50 dive sessions 2 hours each. It was going to cost $300 a dive, but we have a friend with a chamber so we ended up being able to do a month for $500 but we had to go to Portland and my husband was out of work for the month. It was very worth it, though. He has color back, it doesn't take him ages to accomplish the simplest task, and he walks so much better now. His parents were so impressed with the treatment they bought us a chamber. He now sleeps in it 3 times a week, although just a dive a week maintenance would probably do just fine. He likes the energy he has from the frequent sessions.

That's awesome that he is doing so much better. I only wish I could afford it. Thanks for sharing.
