I'm new here. . .

I am a 23 year old female, and I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease early May 2008. I had been sick for almost two years and experienced around 75 symptoms. Several doctors were unable to pinpoint one single cause for my wide range of symptoms. I have terrible joint pain, body aches, fevers, debilitating headaches, GI symptoms, neurological symptoms, etc. . .

After being diagnosed by an Infectious Disease specialist, I was on doxycycline for a month and then IV rocephin for two weeks. At the end of my 14 days with the rocephin I felt like I was getting much better and the doctor decided to take my PICC line out and see how I would do. It's been for a few days since the IV treatment stopped, and my symptoms are starting to return. Has anyone had similar treatment and the symptoms quickly returned? Will the disease never go away? Should I go back to the doctor and undergo MORE treatment? Help?!

I am sorry for what you are going through. i am also sorry that i do not have any answers for you. Unfotunately i have all but given up on trying to get a good doctor to help me with the chronic lyme. I guess that the fight has gone out of me. BUT i do not want to see you or anyone else give up. Everyone here is great and i am sure that they can guide you in the right direction. Wish you only the best!!!!

I am sorry for what you both are going through. Do not give up. Have you considered alternative treatment? That worked for me. It's something worth considering, especially if you haven't investigated the possibility and especially if traditional medicine isn't working for you.

Please tell us some more about what you have done to get better. It's my understanding that it's very difficult to get better with antibiotics alone. It usually takes a combination of approaches. By the time a chronic lymie is finally diagnosed , our immune system is usually wiped out. Has your doctor helped you build up your immune system? Probiotics are essential, especially if you've been on antibiotics. There are many other sups to consider (on an individual basis). Please tell us more about you.

Also, were you tested and treated for coinfections? I believe most of us have coinfections. I had babesia, ehrlichia, bartonella and recently I was reinfected with more lyme, more babs, and I got a taste of rocky mountain spotted fever, too. So, my latest tick bite gave me 3 infections with one bite. What a deal.

However, there is hope. Please don't give up. I am a recovered lymie, plus I conquered my reinfections rather quickly (in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks I was asymptomatic again).

I recovered under the guidance of a biological MD in the South. I used a variety of homeopathics, herbals and nutritional sups to recover. I am feeling better than ever. I also had acupuncture, chiropractic care, and FIR sauna.

It sure sounds like you quite possibly have babs with the headaches and fevers. What about chills? Babs also gave me terrible, shaking chills , malarial in nature. The chills were scary. If you have them, you'll know what I'm talking about.

So, to answer your question about will this ever go away? I believe so. Mine is gone. I know of other my doc has treated and they are better, too. I'm not the only one who is recovered.

So, keep reading and researching and asking lots of questions. You can get better, it's my belief you really can get better. I was barely putting one foot in front of the other and I got better. I was a sick puppy. I feel like I came back from the dead.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this while you are so young, but please know that there is hope.

Feel free to ask me anything.

Peace,

Connie

I want you to know that there is hope. I have posts about my story all over this forum.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.
