I have been up all night and stumbled on this site about 5 AM. I am new and signed up right away! I would like to share a little bit (okay a lot) about myself and my Lymes Disease. I have been sick (the latest bout) for about a year and a half. Previously I had been diagnosed with Celiac Disease (in December of 2004). I am originally from the Twin Cities of MN. I moved to Northern Wisconsin in 2005 with my husband and two of my six children. I have been sick for a long time and it really is a blur. I was formally diagnosed in April of this year and started on IV antibiotics in May. I have had 5 MRI's, a spinal tap, physical therapy 3 separate times for approximately 3 months each time, steroid injections, oral steroids, EMG, 4 endoscopies, bone testing, capsule endoscopy, CT scan, colonoscopy, I think I will stop now, I have always been anemic and was given a blood transfusion in December of 2004. Boy rereading this makes me sound a little goofy and very tired.

The IV antibiotics seemed to be working about 3 weeks into them but lately I feel horrible again. I can barely walk and hurt all over. If I overdue it, like having a sleep over for my 13 year old daughter's birthday, I pay big time. I can no longer take an anti inflammatory because of my celiac disease. So I am taking hydroco/apap. It takes awhile to kick in but usually helps take the edge off. I am 46 years old and 5 years ago I ran a half a marathon and felt fantastic. I think I have some permanent damage in my right leg for sure but we will see.

I love the posting about the hyperbaric chamber and I am going to check that out. I know of an office in Duluth, MN who does this treatment. I spent time in a hyperbaric chamber after CO poisoning in 1995.

Sorry about the long post but I could not help myself . I cannot wait to keep reading all of your posts.

Thanks for listening

Hi and Welcome!

I can identify with all those tests, too. Most of us can. It's insane , isn't it?

We're glad you found us, too. I have a hyperbaric chamber in my basement. If ya'll lived around here, I'd let you use it for free!!I really would, of course.

I'm 42 and I love to run, too. I just started running again and it feels sooooo good to be out there again. I really hope you don't have permanent damage in your leg. Keep us posted on your progress.

I got better with alternative therapies under the care of a physician. Feel free to ask me anything, if you're interested.

By the way, your post is not very long, really. Please keep sharing .

Connie

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

Hello and welcome,

I am glad you were finally diagnosed, for most of us this is half the battle. It sounds like your Dr. is on the right track so far with the IV abx. It seems like a lot have been given a 21 day course of oral abx and deemed cured. Please continue to educate yourself as much as possible and don't be afraid to share with your Dr. what you have learned. It seems there is a lot of different treatments out there and different opinions even between LLMD's. BTW is your Dr. considered lyme literate? I have had to educate my Dr.s plenty as they don't have a clue about this disease which is shocking to me.

Good luck and take care, Denise
