Well, I haven't posted much lately. I've been busy with my three daughters and their end of school activities and now they have swim team Monday through Friday. So, I am on the road, but having fun.

I've also been busy fighting some new infections from my last tick bite on May 13, 2008. Yes, I found a tick attached and feeding on my scalp on that fateful Tuesday. The day after my 42nd birthday! I wasn't in too big of a panic. I was at my daughters' dance studio when I discovered my new 'friend.' I calmly asked the owners if they had a pair of blunt tipped tweezers. There was a physician's assistant in the lobby who so graciously removed the tick for me. I thought , well, I guess this is God's way of encouraging me to educate people about proper removal of ticks, tick-borne diseases and how to save the tick for testing purposes. This created a lot of discussion among the parents and even some of the teen-aged dancers were asking lots of questions. The following week I was approached by numerous mothers asking me lots of questions. The following week i also noticed a small pink rash in my scalp at the site of the bite. My lymph nodes are very swollen. I started getting headaches, fatiuge and some stiffness in my neck and spine. You know where this is going, don't you?

I went to my doc on Tuesday last week and I tested positive for lyme (again), babesia(again), and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I never had RMSF before. I guess I just need to try one of each flavor . I have to laugh about this to keep from crying . Honestly, I'm not worried at all. I know I am in good hands at my clinic down here in the South. Frustrated? Absolutely. I've only had 3 ticks (that I'm aware of) in my whole life and all three of them have infected me. That's 100%. It makes me worried about my daughters and the future. This disease is spreading so fast, it's scary.

This is interesting to me. My levels of infections are almost 3 times higher than they were one year ago when I was at my sickest. (The highest levels they have seen at my clinic). However, I am only mildly symptomatic. I guess I really do have a new and improved immune system. I'll be okay. I am confident. After all, I'm still jogging. I'm getting in my FIR sauna everyday and that really helps, too. My doc added added Barberry by Nutramedix and I still take Samento, too. I also take several other sups to help with detox and improve immune system and replensih my trace mineral stores. I've been taking a magnesium supplement which seems to be helping with muscle tightness in neck and spine.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what's going on.

It's kind of like being struck by lightning twice, isn't it? I mean what are the odds? I think I need to take up gambling

Peace,

Connie

I'm so sorry Connie! I am glad for your post however because I learned something new. I thought the tick had to be on you for awhile, like at least a day for it to infect you. It sounded like you got it off within hours. All the more reason to be very afraid of this disease. Good luck with your continued tx.

Take care , Denise

Thanks Denise, You brought up a good point about length of time tick is attached and risk of infection. I've read a lot about these darn ticks and there are conflicting opinions about this topic. Some people say the tick has to be attached for at least 24 hours. Others argue you can be infected within minutes. Well, my tick was only attached for (at the most) 6 hours. So, there is evidence that you can be infected with lyme in less than 24 hours. I am evidence. It's all very interesting.

By the way, I am feeling GREAT today. I am cautiously optimistic about how fast I can knock my levels of infection down. I think my new and improved immune system is 'kicking in.'

Thanks everyone for all of your good thoughts

Think about it, if mosquitos and fleas are carrying/passing this disease - they aren't attached to us for long.

Glad you are feeling better! I just started my major heavy immune system building detox - it's a tough one to follow --- but --- I'm going to do it!
