Hi everyone i am new to the forum! I am going to be 21 years old and I have been fighting lymes since june of 2006, it was the day of my high school graduation that i found out that i had lymes and it killed me i didnt want to walk at graduation and when i got home from the doctors i just cried for hours. It was supposed to be a happy day for me that ended up turning into a sad day. I have been through a lot over the past 16 months it has been hard. ther are some mornings that i cant get out of bed and thanks to my parents and my loving boyfriend i have gotten through it. I am also a firefighter and had to make it through fire school (which new jersey makes every volunteer and career firefighter go through)and that was like an uphill battle. i struggle everyday. In january i had a pic line put in and had to deal with a 30 day treatment and it was horrible. my goal in life is to become a police officer and the way it is looking now i will never be able to become a police officer. About a month ago i stated have problems with my hands and remembering things.

is there anyone out there that might be able to help me get through this. none of my friends know how i feel and when every they call i have to say no to going out because i dont feel good and i cant stay awake long enough to go out with them!

ok, I totally understand your upsetment. I was bit when I was 9 in texas...2 ticks, my dad burned them out...bad, bad, bad.... I had all sorts of stuff happen thru the years, then around age 20 I got so sick and nobody could tell me what was wrong....then about 60 other symptoms came on.... I've had 5 surgeries, all which were for possible cancer (after I just had 2 babies), I'm thinking now the tumors were caused by the lyme.

The one thing you have on your side is you are YOUNG, you will beat this honey. You seem to to have caught it somewhat early. first things first, you need a lyme literate doc, you need long term antibiotics....30 days will do nothing, and a "normal doc" will just tell you , you have "post lyme syndrome"...a joke. when your on abx you will herx, and feel like death at times, I recomend keeping a journal, writing all your symptoms for the day....eventually you will see you will have more and more good days. Right now, I'm up to maybe 3 good days a month.... hey, better than before. I am going to pm you. check that soon

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Hi fellow new jersey-ian, or however you would say it. I know exactly how you feel, I'm 19 years old and was just diagnosed with lymes. My mom and boyfriend have been two of the most supportive people in the world, but it's frustrating at times. They don't understand how I feel, and I feel like I've lost touch with all of my friends because I constantly tell them I don't feel like hanging out because sometimes I can't even get out of bed. Have you ever seen an LLMD? I'm going to see Dr E in NJ. It's very discouraging and depressing, but I found it really helpful to go to these online message boards and talk to people. It's good to have people to relate to, and people who understand how you feel. Hang in there!

Just try and keep the faith. I've been fighting this since July 2007. Just had my blood sent to the lab in CA. I got this during a happy time in my life, I got married 9-15-07 but had to cancel my honeymoon in Rivera Maya Mexico due to this. I know its hard, but remember lyme will not win, you will WIN in the end just like the rest of us.

I had a very bad day yesterday, but today I'm having a great day, and I thank god for each one he gives me.

Chin up

Julie

Lyme will not win, we will and we WILL…
