Hey,

I just started 400mg of doxy Wednesday and I've never experienced nausea like this before. It's making me want to quit everything and my emotions are all over the place. Has anyone else experienced this with doxycycline and if so, have any suggestions for me?

Thanks for any advice y'all might have!

Hey Westies,

Doxy actually makes me throw up UNLESS I take it with food. I'm not sure if you are taking it on an empty stomach, but if I take it on an empty stomach I will vomit in about a half hour after taking it.

But if I eat some toast or something -- I am good. Not sure it this helps. Good luck -- don't give up!!!

Debra

Sick I hope your nausea lets up. I agree, I can only take ABX with food otherwise I get sick or very, very nauseous. I have also found that if I take Ginger it helps immensely w/nausea.

Since I started taking ginger, I have very little nausea and I'm surprised because I'm taking Mepron, Lariam and Minocycline right now. Ginger has really helped a lot.

I wish you all the best.

Emetrol works well too. It's a natural anti-nausea medicine you can find in your drug store. I started on doxy last week and feel blah! Also I think the nausea can be from herxing so I take charcoal capsules to mop up the toxins that are released when the bugs bite the dust. Oh, and drink LOTS of water! Hope this helps! Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll do anything to help get rid of a little of this. I never thought about the fact either that it could actually be herxing but I guess herxing can be anything at this point.

I could not handle doxy at all. They tried tetracycline too and that made me throw up. It was like clockwork take the pill and puke in 30 min. Eventually I had to go back on my biaxin and plaquenil.

I'm an Advocate

there's something called mastic gum, I get mine from www.iherb.com and I've known many people that its worked wonders with tummy issues. also papaya extract is good for that too, but the mastic gum is better
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
