Hi,

I liked this stuff, but have to start slowly. Many people think we are crazy, because they just do not understand and know enough about what it does to people.

Samento is a very high priced and unproven extract of the herb Cats Claw

IF you want to try this for tick borne diseases Id suggest you use Stephen Buhner's protocol which uses the whole herb--NOT anything "TOA-free" the best brand is Nature's Answer and its very reasonably priced. Alone its not enough though.

You can find more info in his book Healing Lyme and in Dr Singleton's new book The Lyme Disease Solution ( he is a LLMD who HAS Lyme and has personal and prof. experience) as well as on Planet Thrive website--Buhner will even answer questions personally!!

as for the whole TOA free hype that made the Samento people rich--dont buy into it- you need the TOA for immmune modulating effects.

also dont believe the rumor that the plants' quinovic acids are similar to quinolone abx and thats why it works- they are very different in structure and function and cats claw will NOT cause tendonitis

BUT it is important to follow Dr Singleton's suggestions to increase very slowly, and to cycle on and off- 10-12 days on and 2-4 days off and only using for a total of 6-12 months, including a 2 week break every 3 months!! and taking liver and kidney function tests monthly while on it.

All health food stores carry Nature's answer as does vitacost.com and online supplement suppliers.

Please note that Buhner p.90 points out that many companies are overharvesting and using the root bark which kills the plant. Its better to use companies that use the bark of the vine and NOT the root, leaving it behind to resprout the plant.

please look up Buhner's book for side effects and contraindications ( the most serious is if you are on immunosuppressive drugs like from transplant);Dont use if youre trying to become pregnant;if you use blood thinner drugs or have surgery scheduled

they interact with pepto Bismol, stomach acid blockers and a few others.

good luck

Hi Tab03,

I used Samento as my natural antibiotic. I used Samento by Nutramedix and it isn't high-priced at all. It was around $30.00 per bottle. You can order it online. I'm on my third bottle and I'm recovered. I consider that to be very reasonable. However, keep in mind that's not the only supplement I used. I took the alternative route under the guidance of a biological MD. I was also taking other supplements (homeopathics, herbals, and nutritional sups) to rebuild my immune system, support detox and kill bugs. It took a lot of sups to help get me well as I was misdiagnosed for over 10 years. A case of chronic lyme is much too complicated to hope that we can get well with a 'magic bullet.' Feel free to ask any questions.

Peace,

Connie
