Hey all!

I think I had my first really bad herxing this weekend on doxy. Could it have been all the chocolate that I ate too? Anyways, since Thursday I have had this intermittent pain on the top of my head only on the left side, like a weird pressure and then it goes around to the back of my ear (right by the mastoid).

SOOO weird...am I alone on this phenomenon?

Thanks to all who have been helping me through this

Hi there,

When I first came down with Lyme disease and had already taken doxycycline,I had a weird phenomenon happen, kind of similar to what you are talking about. My symptoms returned and I had a really severe sore throat and swollen lymph glands. Then I drank some very hot tea one day, and within minutes, I felt the bacteria literally move out from my throat to around the back of my neck and base of my head. It was the weirdest thing! Like it was running from the hot tea! And then this area on the back base of my head was in excruciating pain for a little while after that, but I had no more sore throat. It was then that I knew I had a very weird and serious disease in my body.

Don't worry, it should pass, and probably is a herx reaction you are having. ( Not just a 'shifting' of symptoms like what I had. ) I strongly suggest that if you are just starting on Doxy, because you have just been infected, don't go off the drug early! Stay on it the full time recommended ( which is I think 6 weeks now. Check with the group to find out what the current recomendation is. ) I did not stay on it long enough, and 16 years later I am still sick with this thing. Hang in there! You are not alone.

I wish I had solutions for everybody here who is suffering, but I am still hunting for them myself and seem to be more of a student on this board than a teacher. All I have to offer is my experience, support, and prayers based on what I have learned in my recovery. I am not a physician.

i started getting a pressure in my head the day i started on doxy. no pain really...just a pretty intense pressure around the sides and back of my head. putting pressure on the back of my neck seemed to relieve it. or simply laying down usually helped...
