Looked in the mirror this morning and saw that unmistakable bullseye and had other rashes on my hips and elbows. I work outside. The Dr. squeezed me in this afternoon and said there was no mistaking it. I've got lyme disease. He took blood to confirm, but started me on antiboitics.

I have also been diagnosed with lupus and fibrpmyalgia. Does anyone have any comments or advise. I'm scared.

Hi and Welcome:

Don't be scared, you will be ok. Your doctor saw the signs and did something about it, (good doctor)...I was also told I had fib, but after seeing a specialist for that, she said no, it was lyme.

It will be ok, ask any question, we will have answers for you...

Julie

I have heard that the sypmtoms are similar to lupus. I thought that I was diagnosed with lupus through the many blood tests I've had. Might lyme cause a false positive result for AnA & DnA tests? Just wondering. Also, what type of Dr. specializes in treatment?

I would say this isn't the first infection with lyme. if you have other issues and dx with fibro and lupus... i also carry those dx, but don't believe in them. you have positive ana? have you been doing any oral or injected steroids for pain, God I hope not....please, don't. it supresses your immune system for a long time, giving the disease free reign on your body.

great to know your doc was on top of it, but he probably just ran an ELISA test, not something sent to igenix....you probably need a minimum of 3 months treatment. Bruscano, the leading doc in lyme says to treat until symptom free plus 2 months.

if you need anything, let me know,

jaime

(send me a pm, I go there first)

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
