Just had surgery to have it taken out today...I don't really know the mechanics of how the lyme works with the gallbladder, but my LLMD sent me for a test last month and found out that it was functioning at 16%. This came after pains and horrible reflux that began after I got lyme in May - is lyme alone enough to kill your gallbladder?

My LLMD is sending it part of it to be biopsied for lyme, bartonella, and some viruses (I think they'll do a PCR test), and my surgeon found a lymph node on the gallbladder and is getting it biopsied, too. Interesting.

For anyone who got your gallbladder out, did you feel like your lyme improved afterward? I'm hoping that will be the case...

My doc just told me two days ago that I'll probably need mine out. Lots of symptoms; nausea, vomiting, pain, diarrhea, constipation, etc.

I will have an ultrasound next week to see what's going on, but we expect it will need to come out.

The way my doc explained, the GB helps clean out toxins. With the overload of toxins, it's not uncommon for Lyme Patients to overwhelm this organ, whereby it ends up needing to come out.

I know of alot of lymie's that have lost their gallbladder, most of them before they even knew they had lyme.

Mine is destroyed too, but I can't get mine out. So, I'm stuck with it..for now.

Mine had to go by way of emergency surgery in 2002. I got diagnosed w/lyme in 2009. I have been sick since the early 90's though. Have heard the same thing that the gallbladder is an organ that can get overwhelmed in such a toxic enviornment. Also why a lot of lymies have enlarged livers...over taxed cleansing organs!

I'm an Advocate

Mine had to go when I was pregnant with my 4 child - she triggered the lyme into full swing...

For me things did get MUCH better - now my digestive system is only effective if I have too much Gluten or when a specific set of nerves in my spine go on the fritz...

Lyme is also supposed to collect in the GB from what I have heard...
