size=1]Her Pedi said he believes her IGM test false positive because she probably had mono and that mono elevated the tiers. She has never had mono to my knowledge. Can Mono elevate band 23? I suggested he do an EB test before saying its false neg.

He believes that if only 2 cases of in utero or breast milk transmission has been reported, then our case is too rare. However, maybe it's rare BECAUSE DR like him are not reporting cases like mine. If my case was reported, then the numbers would rise. How many other cases like mine are not being reported?

He also believes that it is so rare that we both tested positive for the same bands that her test must be false positive. It's too unlikely that we would both have the same bands show up.[/size]

I believe that since it was transmitted in utero or breast milk that it would be common sense that we in fact do have the same positive bands since we have the same strain of lyme infection.

He believes that since her IGM is positive that she and I were bit by two different ticks which are unlikely.

I explain I agree us getting bit by two different ticks is unlikely and can be easily explained because she got the virus in utero or breast milk. Also that our IGM is positive because of chronic persistent re infection. I sited Dr Jones.

Is this legal? Can he get away with not reporting this to the cdc?

There are many, many cases of mothers passing Lyme to their children. If I were you, I would just wash your hands of this doctor - don't even worry about the CDC because they already know they truth and are lying to us all. My doctor has Lyme and has never been bit by a tick (to her knowledge) - not to mention that her mother has it as well - AND her husband and child both have it.- none have had ticks on them. My doctor was the first to tell me not to even look at the CDC website on Lyme - it's all B.S.

If you were to call the CDC about Lyme and ask them if it can be passed from person to person - they would tell you "No, it can only be from a tick bite" - then you ask them if it's ok for you to donate blood and they will tell you "oh, no... you can't do that - you have Lyme". I know someone who has had that conversation with them. Insane.

Do some research on the political side of Lyme - it's a bit depressing.

Yes it is absolutely illegal for him to not report a positive test to the cdc. If I were in your shoes I would call the cdc and tell them the situation and that he refuses to report it. Clayton is right that the cdc is not exactly on our side, but he is obligated to do so or his license can be pulled.

So this is interesting, in Georgia there were only a handful of Lyme cases reported but through my local Lyme group there is a ton of sick people. Would it make a difference if we start to push for our cases to be reported?

I think it would. It would give us more evidence that "something" is happening. Maybe this would push the CDC to develop better testing!!!! The CDC needs someone or something to push them off their a**!!!

We should do a million lyme persons walk around DC! We should protest and this would get us media attention thus forcing people to start talking about Lymes. Once we educate the public more who knows how many people are suffering from it right now, but have NO clue!!!

Count me in on the march! There is no telling how many people are suffering from Lyme and don't know it. I was told that I just had FM and I had to live with the pain. I've been on the FM site and their stories are so similar. I'm guessing 75% of them have undiagnosed lyme. There was a study done in Georgia on FM patients and 75% of them tested positive for Lyme!!!! I'm really not surprised. I was once clueless, too.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

Hi Idsucs,

How old is your baby/child? I am in a similar situation. My baby and I were both recently diagnosed with Lyme. I unknowingly passed the infection to him in utero or through breastfeeding. My son is 15 months old. He tested positive on the IgG, but not the IgM. I tested positive on IgM, but not IgG.
