I have an appointment on Friday with a doctor that seems to have some knowledge of Lyme. After 2 courses of antibiotics and steroids in July for a severe asthma attack (heading toward pneumonia...again) I had a sudden worsening of many diferent symptoms that had me concerned. The muscle cramps were the worse physically but the sudden increase in mental fogs and problems with word finding were downright scary. So....I went to my regular MD and was told all of my 48 symptoms could all be explained by other things than Lyme DZ. All he wanted to do with obvious reluctance)was the ELISA. I left without doing anything. I had done a lot of research looking and matching up my symptoms with disease. I am almost certain I have Lyme. So, my real question is: What do any of you suggest for this first appt with (hopefully) the right doctor? I have a list of all my symptoms over the last 20 plus years as well as my current diagnoses and meds. Also threw a list in my folder of a sort of chronological list of problems. Anything else I am overlooking? I am traveling just a bit to see her so don't want to forget anything! Thanks!

Ask her to send your blood work to Igenex labs or a lab that only tests for tick borne diseases. You have a better chance of getting a positive result because they dont leave out bands which are specific to Lyme. Commercial testing leaves out band 31 and 34.Otherwise it sounds like you have it covered. Bring all test results and mri reports that sort of thing.

I am NOT a doctor, anything I share is based on my experience & research. I encourage you to discuss any and all information that I share with a health care provider.

I made a chart of everything so I would not forget to ask something. I also faxed all questions a few days before my appointment so he had them and could answer them. I also bring a tape recorder with me to every appointment as sometimes I forget what they tell me, my doctor feels its a great idea to do....

Every test I have I always get copies and all x-rays, ct, etc I have them put them on a CD for me (they give me two copies for free) that way I also have them...Like I once said "I have more cd's of my body then music)
