MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hello everyone. As some of you who have read my personal story about my life with Lyme disease you may already know I have had Lyme Disease since birth. For many MANY years I have been getting shots of bicillin once a week every week. About 3 years ago I got even better treatment for about a month. I got IV every day for thirty days. I felt so good after that I didnt have to get a shot of bicillin for a good 4 or 5 months. But alas I relapsed and had to go back on the meds again. Its been an ongoing struggle trying to get rid of it all for so long now. All my life I have just wished that it would just get killed off.

Now I am almost 19 will be at the end of May. The last time I got a shot of bicillin was March 2nd. I just have been so busy I havent had time to go out and get it again but it just so happens that I haven't needed it. At first I wasn't getting it because I didnt have the time to, now Im not getting it because I feel amazing and dont feel like I have to get it.

The first sign of me relapsing is that I start getting the bullseye rash again. Ive been keeping a close eye out for that. Still nothing even the rashes I used to have still hangin around from the last time I noticed they all have just turned into scars or disappeared now. So now its been 6 weeks since I have gotten my shot. I still feel freaking AMAZING. Im never sick I always have energy!! I caught a cold that normally would have made me feel like crap for over a week but I still feel amazing and I got rid of that cold so quickly!! So what Im wondering is.. is that did I fight it long enough to finally get rid of it?? Did I get enough meds to kill the all of the disease off?? Is it gone? This just seems to good to be true. But for now I am just going to pray that it is gone and that I no longer have to live with that horrible disease....

Guess I will just have to wait it out and hopefully it has gone for good!!

Congratualations Lizwood17! I am so happy for you. You are so young to have dealt with such a huge problem. thank God you are beating it! I beat it ,too. I'm 41 and have had Lyme since 1991, but it's only been a 'big pain' since 1998. It took almost a year to knock this monster back down, but it was worth the fight, as you know. Take good care of yourself and keep us posted.

Hi Julie,

My 13 yr old daughter is being treated now with zith/mepron. Waiting for blood work to come back from igenex next week, but dr felt best to start treatment. She's very very tired and has back and leg pain. I don't know how long she has had it, if indeed it does come back positive. The dr thought even perhaps babesia, however, looking up symptoms, she never had fever and chills and sweats...the only sweats she has had were the first week on the zithromax.

Wow.. I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well, but I think maybe you are playing with fire. If I were in your situation i would continue to get the shots for atleast another month just to be safe. I know that they are painful and a hassle, but I would do it just to be safe.

I never had any fever, chills, etc. and I've had Lyme for over 20 years. I am pretty 'normal' and not as sick as most people. My symptoms are more joint related. I hope your daughter doesn't have it!! Let us know what her results are!
