How much is an LLMD? I am so curious. Julie started a post somewhere else, but no one has responded yet. Why doesn't he take insurance? I didn't go to an LLMD. I went to a biological MD who treats the whole person, not just the disease. My doc takes insurance, but my visits were not covered. My insurance stinks. It was well worth the price, though. I thought his rates were extremely reasonable at $100-200 per hour. Plus, you get what you pay for. I am better.

Guess if they don't take insurance, they stay under the radar. Lyme is a mess.

So true. Some of the docs who are truly helping people have to stay 'under the radar' to avoid being picked on by the powers that be. Not everyone who doesn't take insurance is 'stealing money' from us lymies. I think the most important thing to look at when choosing a doctor is simply, do their patients get better. So, in my case, the answer was yes and I was happy to pay, well not exactly thrilled, but I can't expect him to work for free.

Good morning! I have been doing a lot of reading lately and calling around to my area doctors to see what kind of approach they take. So far my llmd seems the best in that he understands herbal combinations etc. with abx. But.... he isn't strong in explaining things. 4 years ago I put all my trust and faith in the doctor and did not properly educate myself, probably out of fear. I think I missed the opportunity then to be feeling better today. I'm not blaming him, I just realize now how important it is to completely educate yourself, follow your heart and gut and use their expertise to help facilitate the healing process. There is definitely a big difference in pricing. A doctor I saw recently was such a nice man. He spent nearly 2 hour with me. He is treating people with Lyme now because he has personal experience with it. My fee was only 90.00!!! Great guy but he's strictly medical. I downloaded Dr. Lee Cowden's protocol and Dr. Joseph J. Burrascano Jr "advanced topics in Lyme Disease. (Diagnostic hints and treatment guidelines for lyme and other tick borne illnesses. Invaluable info. My heart goes out to everyone going through this. One of the hardest part is trying to explain to people what the h*** we are going through.

true, as stated before, many don't take ins. because the ins companies tell the docs how they can and can not treat us. (the long term antibiotics fight). truth be told , it does get some people well. but there are those who fight like mad sauing "when we really need them they won't work", well, what do you call this.... if some poeple didn't take them, they'd flat out die, sounds like a necisity to me. That being said,I don't put all my faith into one docotor. I eductate myself and self treat with herbals. I know you MUST treat the whole bod to win this. abx are poiosn, you need to detox those poisons as well as the posoins from the disease die off, you need to build up the immune system in many many ways. My doc does take ins. but as for how lnog my ins. will pay, I dn't know. Now, some of the docs that are out there charging $1400 a visit, I have to wonder about, plus labwork, etc, and those that say you must only take thier supplements, I stay away from. If a doctor is in it for the right rason, they are there to help someone. My doctor told me that if I loose my insurance he'd still treat me, he treats welfare cases for $20 a visit. tell me he's not in it for the right reason. He also has been blunt. This is a dart shoot if you will. Different abx work for different people, its just a matter of finding the right combo, as thier are somany strains out there. so we just keep trying and trying, and do what we can.

hope this helps.
