MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hello Acculea,Thanks for the welcome. I have been taking probiotics since I stared abx. in 1/08.How long have you had Lyme and when were you diagnosed? How long were you on abx? Ill stay on only for a total of 6 months and thats all, than I will try an alternitive route. I have been on abx since 1/08, I dont really feel much differnt( mabey Some). I normally do a bowel cleanse about 1 time per year. I hear of alot of people with Lyme not ever making much improvements. Scary!!!!

I just mentioned in my last post that the alternative route worked for me meaning that I got better. I am free. So yes, people do get better from Lyme.

For lucylyme: you mention that you are interested in 'naturals'. If you want to, just pme and I can give you the name of my doc. There's another girl on here named Clayton who is also taking the natural route and getting good results. I know from experience that the natural route works without those side effects of heavy duty conventional antibiotics.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

Lymie, I have heard of samento(cats claw?)I have never taken much medication until now. Ill try taking the abx for a total of 6 months, than ill try the natural route. There is so much to learn!!! I have taken pretty good care of myself the last 5 years with healthy eating and exercise, always hoping it would make me feel better.(little did I know, I had Lyme)I also have been taking probiotics since I started taking abx. 1/08. Have you heard of Cowdens protocol? I hear it is inexpensive. Thanks, Sandie

No, I have not heard of Cowden's protocol. There are many 'protocols' out there. I think the best thing you can do is to keep researching the heck out of this disease and see for yourself what actually works. I think that's really neat you are giving convventional antibiotics the ultimatum. It sure isn't going to hurt to go ahead and start taking some natural supplements that some of us on this forum are already taking. That's wonderful you are already taking probiotics. My ND recommends to switch your probiotics monthly, too. Give your GI tract a little variety

Samento is a natural antibiotic, antiviral, antiparasitic, immune booster, etc. I think it's liquid gold. It has worked very well for me. I didn't take one single dose of conventional antibiotics. However, I did a lot of other things, too. It's plastered all over this forum in my other posts, so I won't repeat. I'm sure everyone is sick of seeing it. But do remember, there is no one single bullet to cure this disease. It takes a multi-faceted approach. Lyme gets everywhere in your body.

Maybe someone will come along and enlighten us on this Cowden's protocol.

Good luck to you and God bless,

connie

Good Morning! Thankyou for responding so quickly. I guess I need to give a little background as to my experience lyme. Think I have had it for at least 8 years. Diagnosed by Igenex 3 years ago. Was seeing an integrative MD who has made lyme his specialty now. I live in chester county Pennsylvania. Got better with treatment initially ( abx 3 mo. cats claw, olive leaf) then got bit with bullseye 3 mo.s later. Repeated same course and today one year later i dont think I ever recovered from 2nd bite. Interested in educating myself now with great people such as yourself. How do you really know if your getting the best care? thanks in advance.

Sandie, it's nice to talk to you. I'm in the process of going back to my llmd because I just dont "feel" right. Fatigued. I will be asking my doc about the cowden protocol as well. I just not sure about all those abx!!!! I met a chiropractor who is taking copious amounts in hopes of iradicating lyme. There are many different approaches and its frustrating not knowing who or what to believe.

Hi again Lucylyme, Its nice to talk to you too. So true, It is hard to know what to believe. I understand what may work for one may not work for another. I am already in debt with med. bills.

My llmd does not take any insurance,so everything is out of pocket and man is it expensive!!!! Please let me know what your llmd says about cowdens protocol. Good luck, I hope he has something to make you feel better. Sandie
