Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I was officially diagnosed with Lyme disease 1/08. For years my doc. kept

telling me I had Fibromyalgia & CFS cuppled with alot of other junk. None of it really made sence. On 7/28/07

I was camping and was bitten by a tick, I had the classic rash, flu symptons that go with Lyme. To make a long story short it took 5 docs and 5 months for a

diagnosis. I was tested with the western blot IGM and IGG at the Igenex labs. My IGM was Igenex positive & CDC positive, the IGG was Igenex positive, but NOT CDC

positive. My llmd believes that I have had Lyme of about 25 years based on my history and lab results. He

says he firmly believes I contracted Lyme as a kid then again in 7/07. All this just blows me away!!! Has any one else been exposed to Lyme 2 times? Thanks, Im so happy I found this sight.

Hi there. Read my story in my profile , also under the group leader section. I have been infected for at least 20 years. But honestly, could be longer than that, and I'm sure most of us have been bitten more than once. Fleas, and mosquitos can carry this too... you can't escape it really. I think this last bite just really triggered it for you. What is your treatment protocol? Please tell me it's more than one month of doxy. Where are you located? Are you comfortable with your LLMD?

Finding a GOOD garlic supplement is a good idea, it's a wonderful natural antibiotic, antiparasitic, antifungal, antivirul, also cats claw is good complimentary treatmetn with abx, and olive leaf extract. You are aware of a herx reaction right? the spirocetes have a die off cycle, and the toxins build up in your body, making symptoms worse, sometimes developing new ones, etc. This waxes and wanes. a gentle detox bath helps out a little, peroxide, epsom salt and fresh grated ginger is good for inflamation. and speaking of inflamation, NO STEROIDS for pain. they supress your immune system, and that's one thing you do not want to do. you want to build it up . they can also activate dormant viruses as in my case. (if you have ever had chicken pox, you have at least one virus), but many of us have more.

I'm a group leader/moderator here, as is Julie, so if you have any questions feel free to pm either of us. Otherwise, post away, I think you'll like it here. low drama site, many knowlegable people, lots of great opinions.

warmest regards,

jaime

Jaime, Thanks for your reply. I am on 4000 mgs of Amoxicillin per day, I tried Biaxin for about 10 days and herxed pretty bad on it, also I was on doxy for about 6 weeks(came off due to stomach problems)I am from mid Michigan.

I like my LLMD lot, but I am going in a large amount of debt that i can not afford. The meds are very hard on me,Im still trying to keep up with my Job

as a dialysis technition, herxing and working are impossible for me to handle. Do you know of any llmds in MI that dont charge alot? Thanks for yourhelp.

I will look it up and see who else I can find for you. Usually to treat lyme most docs will put you on a combo, and amoxi/Biaxin is a stellar combo, maybe add the biaxin back in but at a lower dose. I'm not one who believes the harder you herx the better, I think that's just sadistic. When I start going into a bad herx, I back off meds a bit.

Yes, doxy is hard on the stomach, I started taking an acid reducer to help with that. and some people swear by the purple pill, is that prilosec? not sure, it's prescription.....i will pm you with a list later ok. hang in there.

Hi:

Yes Doxy is very hard on the stomach and liver, my good friend ruined her liver on it, please be careful. When I'm on any abx for a long period of time, my doctor does blood word every two weeks to check my liver etc. Better safe than sorry if you ask me.

Julie

Sandie, yes, sometimes it's good to take a break, when you think about it, most of these drugs are just more poisons we're putting in our bodies. Milk thistle is a great supplement to help protect the liver. Follow your gut instinct is the best thing I can tell you. Also, as far as doxy goes, most people get capsules, so when I got tablets a few friends were surprised, but as it turns out after doing some research, they are a little easier on the tummy. There's also another form of doxy called Doryx, which is supposed to be much easier on the stomach. BUT, doxy isn't some miracle drug, there are so many others out there that if you have problems with it, it's not worth it. Some people think the harder you herx, the worse you feel, the better. After my research, I disagree. It's so hard on our bodies. Let us know what your doc says.

Welcome to our world..If you look under this section of posts you will see posts regarding probiotics. If you are taking multiple antibiotics then you need to make sure that you are taking atleast 8billion probiotics a day to keep your digestive system going well. I am also a big believer that people should do a bowel cleanse before they do treatments because our bowels are 75% of our immune system and our systems tend to be clogged with cheeseburgers of the past and if the bowels are clogged then you can no properly take in the antibiotics. I personally feel that this may be one of the reasons that lyme patients take so long to get better and why many treatments may not work for us.

Hi Jamie, I think my Doc. feels the same way about the herxing, thats way he told me just to take the amox. untill my next appt. Im not crazy about taking meds, but

I have to give the abxs a chance to work. I have heard of some people taking abxs for a year or two. I dont think I will stay on that along, my body hates drugs.

What is the best natural protocol to take? and does it really work? There is soooo much to learn. thanks again, sandie P.S. I read your Bio, how awful for you. Have you made progress over the years?

Hi buttercakes,

You asked about natural protocols. Well, I am one of a few people on this site who chose the natural route...100%. It worked for me. The natural antibiotic that I used was Samento by Nutramedix. There are a lot of other homeopathics, herbals, and nutritionals that I took. I didn't do it by myself. I was under the care of a physician in the South. I also used FIR sauna, hbot, acupuncture, chiropractic care and zapping (which is similar to rifing). It sounds like a lot of things, but it wan't too bad. Plus, it worked. I'm better. There's a post about books to read somewhere on this forum. Information is power. After I researched this disease, I was convinced that alternative medicine was right for me. I too was told that I just had FM and was given tons of prescriptions for the myriad of symptoms that continued to worsen over the years. I just didn't know any better.

To answer your question about more than one tick bite, I'm sure many of us have been bitten multiple times. My first bite was in 1991. I was clueless about TBD and totally dismissed that tick. My symptoms were slow to progress. They just began with migraines and sensation of bugs crawling on my skin. I didn't pay much attention, I was busy with graduate school and just thought the headaches were stress. In 1997, I had another bite. My symptoms worsened and my spine and neck began to hurt really bad. Well, the rest is history. Ten years of hell. Oh well, it ended well, (once I was finally properly diagnosed with the lyme and treated ,I got better). You will get better, too. Just arm yourself with lots of information and choose the path that's best for you. For me, I chose alternative medicine, allopathic medicine failed me. I was sick of the pills and their side effects. I'd had enough poisons in my body.

I agree with the others that you consider taking probiotics and the other supps to boost your immune system.
