I am wondering if anyone who may have a PICC line has experienced any sharp sudden pain in the left side of the chest??

My thought is maybe the picc is poking or tickeling my heart or something? It's a bit scary yes, But I have experienced chest pain in the past and had under went a Nuclear stress test and all was fine. So I don't want to go to the ER or anyhing at this hours, especially since my Dr appt is tomorrow.

Just wondering if any one has had similiar complaints?

Do you still have the picc line? I know when I had mine I would often feel a gushing feeling from it .. and I do sometimes get a sharp chest pain .. but i always thought it was heart burn.. How long does it last?

I have mitro valve prolapse also so if I did have pain it was hard to determine what was causing it. My experience would tell me that it may have moved into the wrong place and was poking one of your ventricals. I assume you have gone to the doctor by now, what did he say?

Hi Caroll- Yes- My PICC line caused chest pain here and there... The important thing is that it doesn't last LONG, and that you don't have a fever accompanying it. My antibiotics made me really sick for two days- and when (sorry if this is gross, but) when I was throwing up, the doc thinks I wiggled the PICC line- but he had me lay on my left side for a while, and in a few hours it went away.
