Hi everybody.

My brother has been suffering for years from extreme fatigue and aches all over the body. Lately he can barely get out of the house. He is in a very poor shape right now, and he's been seen by A LOT of doctors. The latest two diagnostics are myasthenia gravis and lyme disease, established by two distinct doctors, while a third doctor he's seeing (and that we like and trust) says it's very unlikely that it's both, and he's not convinced by any of the previous diagnostics, while he doesn't have a solution himself. We're lost, and desperate, and we don't know what to do and think anymore. Is it likely for him to have both diseases? Can one trigger the other? Excuse my ignorance, I'm not too trained in this field, but I'm willing to learn and research until I come up with some kind of answer.

I'd appreciate any descriptions and ideas.

I'm not sure so I am not going to say yes or no. But I know Lyme can effect the muscles and so does myasthenia gravis. If one can cause the other, then my money is on Lyme caused the myasthenia gravis(but I have no clue). I'm saying this because Lyme caused me to have low blood pressure and high levels of Epstien Barr. Lyme Disease really effects a persons body. Also many people who have Lyme get misdiagnosed with other diseases they do not have. It happened to me an uncountable amount of times for over a year before I found out it was Lyme. I would say have him go to a few doctors for second opinions, but make sure he goes to a very good Lyme disease doctor. If one doctor says he has Lyme then dont wait get him treated asap. Also some doctors dont want to believe in Lyme Disease so be veryyyyy careful!!!

Igenex labs are the best in the country for detecting lyme and tick-borne co-infections. You can order their kit, have a local practitioner draw the blood and Fed Ex it back for an acuurate diagnosis.

His symptoms sound very much like lyme however, other diseases do as well. It can be very hard to test for in those who've been ill for some time as the Bb [lyme bacteria] often bore into tissue and remain out of the bloodstream. The website is: www.igenex.com

For good knowledgeable doctor's in your area who know something about lyme please check www.lymediseaseassociation.org

Hi Lynn,

I am sorry your brother is so sick. Lyme Disease is misdiagnosed as many things and he could have a misdiagnosis or yes he could have both. You need to get him to a Lyme Literate Md to find out for sure. Mainstream MD's, specialists do not know how to diagnose or treat Lyme disease. There is a lot to learn about Lyme and the main thing people go months and years misdiagnosed or undiagnosed due to MD illiteracy. Please click on the link below and then click on Resources where you will find symptoms lists and a lot more info to help educate you about Lyme disease. In the meantime, do not trust any doctor to diagnose Lyme disease, only LLMD's (Lyme literate)doctors that specialize in Tick Borne Illness can diagnose and treat this disease.

Take care.

I am sure NO doctor,,,but chances are 99% he DOES have lyme and that is causing most all of his problems. So sorry to hear this,,,there are thousands,no hundreds of thousands walking around saying what happened to my life???Used to be so different,,,and 95% of all docs say,"GEE we dont know!!""

Where in the world does your brother live---like southeast Alaska,,,Northern Cinncinnatti,,,like that!! there are 'some' LLMD's around but getting harder to find. Unless you are extremely lucky,,,expect to travel a piece to get to them!! Depending on your locale. let us know and we MAY be ale to help find a GOOD one for him to see. That would help your brother immensly ,,to see one and hear the words, we can help!!!--just don--
