I'm getting my Igenex test back tomorrow and was wondering what would be a good treatment plan to start with? Also, what are some good alternative herbs people are using. I use pot to help with the pain and it works better than most of those bad narcotic drugs! I just use a little bit!

gosh, there are so many combos to start with, I guess it depends what your results say. doxy is usually first line of defense. I'm more of the type that likes a "combo" of drugs, such as doxy/biaxin is supposed to be a stellar combo. It's not unheard of for people in pain to smoke pot, I hear about it all the time. It's sad when the doctors don't realize just how much pain we can be in from this disease, and how much it can vary. Some people with lyme have a mild case, harldy any pain at all, others are bed ridden because of the pain... I'm in the middle, even on medication my pain levels (on a good day, which are few and far between) never get below a 6. Usually I am around 7 or 8, but looking at me you'd never know, because this is just my life, this is how I've lived for so long.

You already know what I said about the alternative things, just pm'd you all that info, don't have time to re write it all again.. feel free to share that info with others though. I'm sure I"ve posted it on here several other times in other posts too

Do you live in California? Pot isn't legal down here in the South. That is probably better than those narcotics. It is a lot more natural! ha. I used to use a combo of lorset plus and ultram. I was like Jaime, the pills just took the 'edge off' so that I could perform the daily activities of living.

Some of the herbs that I used to get well included Samento by Nutramedix (this was my antibiotic), I took a lot of supplements to boost my immune system such as monolaurin and glutathione. A good liver, kidney and spleen drain such as Scolopendrium. I also took something called Hepatica. There were so many differnt ones at different times throughout my recovery it would be impossible to list. Anyway, another good product to help with inflammation (pain)is Ultra InflamX by Metagenics. It is a shake and has lots of good nutrition in it for you. You need good nutrition, the bacteria and viruses "suck the life out of us." I didn't say that scientifically, but you get the point.

I got better the natural way. I used a customized combination of nutritional supplements, herbals and homeopathics and bio Energetic medicine. All of this was for metabolic/immune support. I also used a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, a far-infrared sauna, acupuncture, and chiropractic care, Detox also played a huge role in getting better. The alternative route isn't for everybody. I think it takes a 'leap of faith." The good news is that it worked for me. There's another person on this forum that is doing the same things as I did to get better. She'll probably be along in the next day or two to comment as well.

Good luck. It is a long road to recovery, but it can be done.

That's me! I'm also doing the alternative treatment (same doc as Lymie). I'm on a handful of supplements but the most important thing I did was detox the organs that the Lyme was targeting. My liver, gallbladder, bladder, kidneys and intestines were really messed up with this disease. Our doc put me on a cleanse for those organs (I'm still on them 3 weeks later). I'm eating raw foods and trying to get my pH balanced. I already had a much lower Lyme count before I even started taking the natural antibiotic (samento). I also used the hyperbaric oxygen chamber, acupuncture, chiro/pain managment and a few other things.

My plan is very regimented - no cheating and no missing the supplements. I've had a really good start to recovery in just 3 weeks.

I'm happy to answer more questions in a pm if you have any.

Good luck!!!

Question. I'm going to order the Samento by Nutramedix does it really work well?? I can't take any abx so I thought I would give this a shot. However I'm sorta scared as I have so many allergis to Drugs.

I am not having any problems with it. Now, it's pretty strong - you need to start with a few drops and work your way up. I was able to handle 5 drops (I put it in a coffee mug with warm water and drink it like tea). I've been doing the 5 drops twice a day. I'm just doing what my doc told me to do so I don't know that it works that way for everyone - it's always tricky with Lymies - everyone is different! I will add more drops to the water gradually.

Lymie will have something to add to this, I'm sure.

Hello, about Samento...I started with just one drop! Sounds crazy, but any more than that and I would get a headache. Based on my experience, Samento is excellent. I was able to work up to about 30 - 40 drops per day. However, that was later in my treatments when my detox organs were able to function better. Also, I started taking parsley, burbur, cumanda and something else along with the samento which helped my tolerance. I'll have to get back on the other sup, (MY sups are downstairs and I'm up right now). It may be a God send that you are allergic to conventional antibiotics..they are a lot harder on your body than the natural way. Here's a tip that yyou probably already know, don't forget to help your body detox. When you take Samento, spirochetes die and release their last attempt to make you sick (neurotoxins). I take a drain called Scolopendrium and some other things. I'm not sure where you can buy this. A healthfood store may be able to help you. I also do other natural things to detox. Good Luck. My regimen was supervised by my doc. I didn't come up with these sups by myself , that's for sure.

Another option is to go to a regular doctor who has some idea what he is doing with Lyme Disease and is willing to work with some of the newer and less conventional methods on you.
