So I must say that I am super duper excited to find out today that they are taking my picc line out at the end of the week. I know it will go back in but knowing that its coming out is a huge relief ( I can go swimming and lay out in the sun) im so excited. I am however concerned. I know that each time the nurse comes the line moves a little bit and its quite painful. Does anyone have any expieriences with it coming out and how bad it hurts?

Hey KatiB! I'm so excited for you to have your PICC removed! I had mine taken out a few weeks ago (it will go back in as well) and it's so great to be able to swim and shower normally. When they took mine out, I didn't feel it at all. I really thought I would, so it was weird to see it come out and not feel anything. Mine never hurt when the dressing was changed, except when they put the disinfectant on it. Hope this helps!

I have a question about after the picc comes out. I had someone tell me they felt really strange, just not themselves for awhile after it was removed. Did anyone feel like they had some emotional or psychological or behavioral issues after their picc line was out?

larpar, my picc line was removed yesterday. I was scared of infection while it was in and I am even more worried now that it is out. I feel like I am driving my family crazy, it has been very emotionally draining. My home is normally very clean but now I won't use a towel twice, I wash my bed sheets almost daily and if I miss a washing I am very nervous, I wipe and clean everything constantly with lysol wipes, I am still afraid to shower so I takes baths and wash my hair in the sink.I have to say I feel very psycho, I hope this doesn't last long I am tired and need to remember how to just relax for me and my family. If anyone has any words to help ease my worries I sure would appreciate them.

I just had my picc line taken out on wed. I had it in for 6 months. It did not hurt at all. And so far everything is ok. My doctor had me stop the Rocefin a week before we took the picc line out. I'm still on oral antibiotics. congrats to everyone who has gotten the picc line out!!

Well, I am coming up on my one year anniversary of having a picc line in, with no end in site. You lucky folks! But, I have had no problems at all. Someday mine will come out. Sigh.....
