I just wanted to know if anyone else has been pregnant while having Lyme disease. If so, what kind of treatment did you recieve if any, and was your baby healthy. I have had Lyme for about two years. I have been on treatment for about 5-6 months. I just found out that I am about 4 weeks pregnany and am just trying to find out all that I can. Thank you for any information. This will be my fourth pregnancy, third child.

Gosh, I've heard stories of people staying on treatment during pregnancy, and had healthy babies. I unkowingly had 2 kids while infected, which of course, means, they most likely are infected. not showing signs yet, but it can lay dormant for years. Do you see a lyme friendly doctor? I don't know much on the subject, just that it IS passed thru the placenta and thru breast milk. It wouldn't hurt to take certain abx thru pregnancy, but you'd need to talk to your doctor about it.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. A newborn baby is a breath of fresh air.

By the grace of God, I had three healthy children while my Lyme was active. I've had lyme since about 1992. I didn't know I had lyme and coinfections until March of 2007. My children were born in 98, 2000 and 2004. I also nursed them all for the first year. I've had them all tested by my doctor in Atlanta, and they are negative. My husband is negative, too.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor

I would be very careful, there are some doctors that feel that there is no way for the baby to get lyme from you and there are doctors that say there is a huge chance that the baby will get lyme from you. From what I've read I feel it is absolutely true that the baby may get lyme from you and also from your breast milk. I know that Lyme disease can cause major complications inutero and can even lead to Miscarriage unfortunaly too often. I have a friend who miscarried 3 times due to the Lyme and then had a major complication with the last one that resulted in a healthy baby but a hysterectomy in the end. I would find a lyme doctor and have them consult with your ob/gyn doctor to decide the best treatment for your situation. Feel free to PM me if you would like to talk further.
