Hello,

I'm new to the forum.

I'm living a dilemma now. 6 months ago, I went hiking in arkansas. A week after that, I got like 30 bites on my legs. I don't know and haven't seen the bugs but my friend, who was with me, got tick and chigger bites.

So after 3 weeks without seeing any major improvement in the bites, my doc gave me a pack of medrol. I didn't know how bad steroid is to my body. So after taking the med, I was totally messed up and got a weird stiff neck.

I was suspecting Lyme so I went to a LLMD. She did all lyme tests and they came back negative. But I was put on doxy for like more than a month. during this time, my bites got healed a little bit.

My neck just got better like a month ago but the bites still present and are very watery.

I went to the dermo, and she gave me clobetasol. After week I started having small blisters all over my body and hand(dyshidrosis?). the demo told me that i have a bad reaction to the bite after a biopsy. So she will give me a steroid shot to the bites sites.

But I'm affraid that I will experience new symptoms with steroid. but at the same time the bites and rashes are soo itchy.

So should i go for it or try to find some alternative. If you know some alternative please recommend.

Thank you.

I definitely would not have steroid shots. Steroids are the "antichrist" to the immune system. You need your immune system armed and ready for combat right now.

I had lyme for about 15 years (misdiagnosed). The good news is that I'm better. I had itching soooooo bad, too. I couldn't sleep at night. I have scars up and down my arms. I went to two different dermatologists, had biopsies, blah, blah, blah. They gave me clobetasol, too and eladil and some other junk. Nothing worked. They never figured it out.

I've read that itching is a sign that the detox organs (liver, kidney, and spleen) are stressed. Also, food allergies/intolerances will cause itching. My doctor in Atlanta solved the itching. I had to avoid my personal food allergies (gluten is very common, also dairy). I also took some homeopathics to support my detox organs. What a relief! Are you anywhere near Atlanta? My doctor is a biological MD and he solved my problems. I was scraping the bottom of the barrel. Now , I'm dancing in the streets.

In the meantime, I used to numb my itching with a hairdryer on high heat, then run for bed and try to fall asleep fast!

Good luck! If you want more specifics , you could PM me or write back on the forum.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

Don,

Do you know which Lab did your Lyme testing? That can make a difference in getting a true test response back as well. Most of us have had negative tests until we were tested at certain labs.

And, no - don't do the steroid shots. I'd find another alternative. Have you tried colloidial silver on your bites?

Thank you for replying.

I did Have a lyme dither and Western Blot and all come back negative. Health wise, I'm feeling ok for now. The back of my head is a little bit sore but i guess it's from the neck pain that is going away.

The only problem i'm facing now is my skin conditions.

While on doxy, I was using triamcinolone(which i have been using for dry skin in the winter) for the bites and it helped quite a little bit. It cleared 2/3 of the bites. But since the bad experience with Medrol, I try to stay away from steroid.

I have tried also Aveeno oatmeal colloidal cream for a week. It relieved the itchy a little bit but the bites seemed to fill with lots of fluid.

The weird thing is that the bites, that looked inoffensive before, are flaring up big time and some bites, which has disappeared for a month or two, has now returned.

So with your recommendation, I will not for sure getting any steroid shot, which is stronger than clobesol (I got blister all around my body after using it). My other option is to ask the Dermo to cut off the bites. What do y'all think?

If not I just leave them alone and let my own system takes care of them. But when will they clear out?

PS: I'm from dallas, TX.

Eeeck. Cutting off bites sounds bad! The only reason I suggested Colloidal Silver (you can get it from

Whole Foods) is because I use it on cuts all the time and it really cleans them out. We have a family friend who is 80 years old and has had a staph infection for a really long time. We talked her into trying colloidal silver when conventional meds weren't helping and it cleared it right up. Staph bacteria is pretty major so I would try it on the bug bites and see how it does - shouldn't hurt.

Unless your tests were actually sent to a place like Igenex Labs, they may not be correct. We all would still be misdiagnosed if our doctors didn't send them to the right place. You can take 5 Lyme tests and them all be negative and then send it to one of the top Lyme testing centers and get a positive test. It's nuts.

I'm also in Dallas - had a hard time finding a doctor here so I'm going to Georgia for treatment (leaving Sunday).

there's a LLMD in dallas. Her name is Audrey Stein Goldings. She is a neurologist and she is pretty serious about Lyme. You can google her name.

I will definitively try the colloidal silver and will let you know about the result.

I'm pretty desperate with my skin now. It itches soo bad and nothing seems to make it better.

So Clayton what problem are you facing now?

oh God, no steroids, please read my profile. Steroids are horrible for healthy people, but even worse for us lymies. I agree, Igenix is where the blood has to go, it breaks the bands down, you only need either 41 or 18 to be positive, and any IND's are considered positive by LLMDs. I'm not sure what the bites are doing , it sounds like it's been going on for some time. That is strange. But not unheard of by any means. Please, stay away from steroids, it can wake up dormant viruses in your body, and talk about pain!!!!

Yeah my problem now are the bites. Some how my body can't seem to eliminate the toxin or just has a bad reaction to them. In normal case, steroid is the solution. But for me it's a dilemma. I don't want it because it's bad but however i don't even know if i have lyme since I feel pretty good actually. I stopped taking doxy like 4 months ago and my symptoms have been improving since. So my only problem now is to get rid of the bites ( a dozen of them) and restore my skin health.

I haven't put any med on them for almost 2 weeks now.

The only thing I'm afraid of is infection.

Should I wait a little longer before doing the damn steroid shot? My dermo told me it just gonna affect locally at the bite site unlike medrol.

I hate having those bites. They are itchy, uncomfortable and hinder my daily life. they really stress me out. And who says stress says more weird health problem.

So my solution is to get rid of the root cause: the bites and see if I can get 100% of my health back. But for now steroid shots seem like the quick solution.

I read about colloidal silver but it seems to have serious side effects. Why do med always have side effects !!!!!

have you tried oatmeal baths? also, to help eliminate toxins a bath with epsom salt and peroxide is great! I really wouldn't do the steroid shots. That scares me I just know too many people who say it's like a bomb went off in thier bodies after steroids of any kind.
