Well my doc really didnt care too much about the paperwork that I brought in because he said many of the symptoms can be related to the medication. He said that with out doing the tests then medically you cannot diaginose someone. I asked him about treatments after the tests and he really wouldnt answer the question. I asked him several times and he said there were many different treatments based on the results. I also asked several times about going back on antibiotics and he said he refuses to give me antibiotics because it is not medically proven that antibiotics can help after 4 weeks. He said that he risks losing his license or being sued by following practices that arent medically proven.

I feel that he thinks that lyme is not related to my symptoms, because I was already treated for it; but it seems very strange that these symptoms came with lyme disease and many other people that got lyme have the same symptoms I have. I kinda want to seek physical theropy; I forgot to talk to my doc about it today there was so much else going on. I have slow reflexes in my left leg, its also weaker than the right and I have some loss of range of motion.

Well he gave me gabpapentin and a week supply of percocet. I guess we are waiting until I visit the neurologist on March 13. I'll let you guys know how that goes.

As so many other people here I was in pain long after antibiotic treatment. If you try to find a ne LLMD make sure to ask before if he/she does long term antibiotic treatment.

Regarding shoes, when my heal got elevated it gives it time to rest. I had both pain in fore foot and heal and that was a little more complicated. Shoes that might work for you are SoftWalk and Dansk, both companies make clog like shoes that would loook pretty cool on a guy. SoftWalk is my absoulut favorite, feel like walking on down cushions, not sure if they make male shoes but check it out. I do not know where I would be today without the Podiatrist I have, some evanings I almost had to crawl to the bathroom because my feet were hurting so bad.

I think physical therapy might be good to look into. I did a lot of swimming in a pretty warm pool, during my sessions I felt almost pain free, it was great. Then after I was relaxing in the sauna. Heat is good for lyme.

As you might have noticed a bunch of us here has taken Lyme in our own hands and are doing a lot of alternative treatments in addition to regular medicin. For me it was so important to feel I had some kind of control of the situation and it was in my power to tr everything I could.

Good luck with everything

ok Ken, time to dump that doc! I'm surprised he gave you a whole weeks worth of percs...whooo hooo, party time,...NOT! God, why don't these doctors understand that when you are truely in pain you don't get the "high" and "addiction" to these medications. I think it would be pretty obvious to spot a drug seeker, and to me, you are not one. I hate when they make you feel like one.

Do what I told you in PM about finding a lyme friendly doctor. do some cats claw, oregano oil, and garlic supplements, all execlent for lyme and other diseases.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Ditto what Jamie just said. I NEVER ask for pain meds and when I did with my OLD doctor he looked at me like I had 3 eyes. My new doctor said no problem...I can take pain, but when it gets out of hand and keeps me from sleeping, I need something. Since I have gotten lyme I have taken 5 pain meds, so I don't think I abuse them like my old doctor thinks people do. Some can be total JERKS...Let them live our life for one day, they would be popping them like M&M's

Not sure if any of you guys watch the show 'Intervention' on A&E....

they had an episode on not long ago and the girl that was being spotlighted had a pain med addiction. (my point is not about us getting addicted to pain meds... but about the doctors) -- but it was interesting that she was in SO much pain, the docs decided that she had rh. arthritis so they prescribed her pain meds (oxy, etc). She didn't manage them well, had a terrible addiction (drank a lot, etc). When they did some final testing (with a different doc) they found out she had Lyme Disease... she refused to be treated for it and kept going to the doctor that prescribed her the pain meds. I just found it interesting that the doctors would give her pain medication for arthritis but not for Lyme. Same situation -- PAIN. It's just unfortunate that she had such an addictive personality.

I guess Lyme just translates to: Suck it up, too bad.

wow, I can't believe she refused to get treated, she'll regret that one day. I don't doubt she has pain, I'm sure she has RA, it comes with the teritorry, but lyme is much more painful. (Funny thing, my regular doc will give them to me for fibrom and lupus, RA, and scleroderma, but he doesn't believe I have lyme, he did the ELISA test, it was negative of course, and I could see he wasn't open to discussion.... my lyme doc can't precribe them or doesn't , all his patients sign papers to not even ask, which if you ask me is bs because if you really know LD, you know the pain that can come with it, especially if you're chronic) this whole thing is ridiculous ... really is. It's too bad she would take them and drink, etc... I'm scared to death to drink on any of my meds, I had like 2 sips of wine for Christmas....just to "toast" with eveyone, then I drank the "kids wine" sparkling apple juice, haha. Hopefully she'll wake up soon enought and seek real treatment instead of just covering it up. I could have gone on with my little life, getting my little drugs each month for the pain, but I knew in my heart there was somthing other than fibro going on, and I searched and searched, and FINALLY came up with it. ok, my hands are swelling with this herx, probably my last post today, if anyone needs me, pm me, I'll check those, my fingers hurt SOOOO bad already...crap. this sucks. it's a new pain symptom I've accuired,...yippee!

I found the ultimate relief. Brookstone has a couple massage chairs. I want to get one of the better ones for 4700 (including tax) but they are as cheap as 1700 dollars. I used the chair yesterday for 25 minutes at 11 in the morning and It caused a little bit of a headache for about an hour, but I was relieved of neck and back pain until this morning. My health insurance wont cover it because they dont cover massage theropy, but im starting up a workers comp claim since i got bit while at work and I am hoping that they cover it. If not I will buy it with my flexable spending account, but for that I have to wait until June 1st. I have tried it before a couple times for about 10 minutes each, but i only did my lower back. It worked good, but with 25 minutes was unbelievable.

I want to try physical theropy, I'll see how that works out next week. I want this massage chair like a kid wants candy... Hopefully I can get it soon. One thing my doc did do is write me a doctors note recommending that I get one and that it would be medically appropriate. We'll see how it turns out..

With the Chair and new shoes, I definately think I can manage without any pain killers.

~Ken

Check Ebay or Craigslist too - just in case. They might have one for a great price. Awesome that you found some relief!

Ugh - Jaime!! Sorry 'bout your pain....
