I didn't do the strictest form of the diet because it was hard enough. I would wake up and have an egg and an apple/banana. For lunch: tuna salad or green salad.. Snacks: apple, cheese, raw almonds. Dinner: chicken, veggies and a salad. Just a healthy choice meal plan. I felt great without wheat in my system. I'm a cheese-a-holic so I don't know how I'd give that up!

If I went to a restaurant, I would order the chicken sandwich or burger and not eat the bread. I never order fries - to this day b/c they make me feel AWFUL. I kept a food diary and recorded how I felt all day and figured out that fried foods really mess with me. I eat a salad with my sandwiches now and I don't feel full and disgusting.

oh, and i want to add that the diet i referred to earlier is the same one that my friend is on for her fibroid cysts - she is taking supplements, enzymes and following the diet - her cysts have shrank quite a bit.

Interesting... my cousin has a condition - they don't know what it is but her body seems to be attacking her eyes. She's only 35. She took steroids but they made her feel terrible. She has been able to keep the inflammation down everyday by eating loads of jalepenos. She discovered that they made her feel better.

Different strokes...

I just know about the effects nightshades can have on arthritis, that is what I have been dealing with. I am sure there are a bunch of good stuff in them that might benefit other conditions

If you are interested do some research regarding anti-inflammatory diet, sound like that is almost what you are doing. I did it for almost two months, the most difficult was to not have any alcohol, I really missed my glass of wine. I am a dairy lover but it was pretty easy to stay away from that.

Last March my LLMD diagnosed my Lyme with HHV-6 and 2 other co-infections. Like the everyone else on this board I was just plain sick. My systems were shutting down. The good LLMD ordered ABX and also diagnosed food allergies to Gluten, Dairy, Peanuts, and a couple other items. I was also sensitive to yeast. After just a few days of total elimination of Gluten, sugar, and the other food allergy items the severe joint pain all but vanished. The doctor also prescribed Nystatin to kill off the yeast in my system. Sugar feeds yeast not Lymes. We are all on so many ABX our normal flora are destroyed. These normal flora normally keep the yeast in our bodies in check. However, in their absence the yeast go crazy. Their growth process creates neurotoxins in our body. So once the yeast were controlled I had to complete a regime to eliminate the neurotoxins. I feel the elimination of Gluten and my other food allergies was just as important to my healing process as the ABX.

Please get tested for food allergies. Dr. V explained it this way. Your immune system is analogous to a big bucket with a small hole in the bottom. As water is poured into the bucket the hole eliminates the water slowly. However, Lymes and it's co-infections flood your system, the bucket, and the small hole in your bucket is unable to clear out the bucket. So if your immune system is free to fight lyme versus the food allergies and yeast, from sugar, your bucket has a chance of keeping up with the flood of disease.

I wish everyone better healthier days ahead. And by all means get tested for food allergies. On the bright side of Gluten free I've lost 33 pounds easily.
