One of the biggest treatments that my doctors have tried to get me to do, is to cut out all of the yeast and sugar from my diet. There theory is that the bacteria feeds off of the sugar and if you elimanate the sugars with a high glycemic index from your diet then you are cutting off their food supply. This also helps with Yeast issues because they eat the same sugars as the bacteria does? Has anyone else tried this way of living?

I quit the sugar during part of my treatment, too. I also gave up anything with gluten (which is everything!)I was tested for food allergies at my clinic and I was allergic to gluten, berries, I can't remember the particulars. Anyway, I'm better now and have re-introduced wheat back into my life (in small doses). It's not surprising so many of us have "gut" issues ,especially if you've taken antibiotics. I think it' s good to give your gut a rest from your usual diet.

I also gave up artificial sweeteners. OOOOOH it was hard to give up my diet cokes. Now, they taste bad.

I switched to teas of all kinds and use stevia (like you Lime).

I think honey would be alright. It was recommended for me to use locally made honey. It helps your immune system.(with local allergies).

Dark chocolate was okay for me in smalldoses.

My itching and pain were reduced after eliminating sugar, artificial stuff, and gluten.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

Yep - I've heard Lyme loves sugar. I would follow the 'yeast' rules and avoid all those things just to see how you feel. Of course, there is die off from the yeast, etc. not being able to survive. You might have some herxing.

I went on a strict diet: no flour, no rice, no potatoes and no corn... never felt better but I fell off the wagon. I plan on trying again. I also dropped 6 pounds quickly and was able to eat plenty (meat, veggies, nuts, cheese...)

clayton, and everyone else who was able to implement this diet...would be interested to know what your daily diet was like... when you woke up what did you eat/drink, etc. i know many of us have a hard time w/ dairy because of our abx. I used to love to eat cheese, but in all honesty, having a hard time figuring a eating/pill taking schedule! between some that you're supposed to take empty stomach, some no dairy, some with food, it's insane.

I love cereal and made my own with some dried fruit and toasted sunflower seeds and had that for breakfast with soy milk. I still eat it, excellent for general health as well (well some people really questionsoy products but in moderation I think it is okay). I tried to eat a lot of fresh stuff, lots of sallads and soups. If I would not have had this diet I would have gained more weight when I did. I suddenly became a lot less active when I got sick and gained some weight and are now starting to try to get it off.
