Hi,

I'm looking for a Lyme familiar doctor in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area(or Texas for that matter).

I have been thinking I have had Lyme Disease for a couple of years. I have gone to 3 doctors. The first did a Western Blot(I think) negative as a result of getting a tick bite that got infected causing me to be hospitalized for 3 days with a vancomyacin IV along with 28 days of Doxy. The hospital also did a Lyme test, negative.

I then went to an Integrative Doctor with a DO. She took non-traditional approaches using symptoms and Microscopy(looking at live blood under a scope) to diagnose lyme(I wonder if she would have if I didn't mention lyme). Gave my Doxy again....decided it was having no effect. She then tried various other approaches of herbs (cats claw, and some other eastern medicines), and prescription meds(I couldn't find much on the web to back some of this up) After so much time she finally gave up. Went to another doc, gave me Lyme test, came back negative. Each doctor runs a variety of test, all negative. I think I have had 4 Lyme tests from different doctors all negative(not sure what tests they where, Western Blot was one)

My symptoms have been:

Gastric Distress (This seems to be the dominant one)

stomach hurts

GI issues.

Poor sleep - feel like I don't sleep

Depression/lack of focus/Foggy

and more lately

My pelvic joint starting hurting when I go running. Now knees and Pelvic and other pains.

Frequently waking up with tingling arms, sometimes I got to pick my arm up with the other arm to move it. Tingly limbs just sitting and such

Wake up feeling like crap.

Generally just feeling like crap

I have had so much testing done, all negative

Blood Work to test for various organ functions among other things

Abdominal CT scan

X-rays

Stress Echo

Colonoscopy

to name a few....everything comes up negative.

I go to New England 1-2 times a year and grew up there. Most my family up there has had Lyme due to living in infested areas and our love for the outdoors. Lyme would seem to explain why I have just felt worse and worse over the years. I am very active, sometimes doing events that last days, but now my symptoms are starting to interfere with this.

My issue is trying to find a doctor in Dallas/Fort Worth that is very familiar with Lyme Disease in order to confirm or deny it. Can someone recommend a doctor in Texas even?

I have since gone back to my 2nd integrative doctor, who is trying some more esoteric GI tests. She said she would do a more extensive battery of lyme testing if I want but she doesn't have much faith in it. She may be correct in the Lyme diagnosis but not familiar with treating chronic long term case.

most lyme tests come up negative, ...they are probably running they typical ELISA test, which is USELESS. You need to be tested via igenix. The ignorance surrounding this disease is so sad. I was infected in texas when I was a little girl. Had two engorged ticks on my spine up high, my dad burned them off (worst thing you can do) never thought anything about it.... well 20 years later....bingo! after suffering horrible with misdiagnoses for 10 years and debilitating pain and 65 symptoms, but "it's all in my head" I finally got a no doubt positive test from igenix and lyme is mostly a clinical dx (based on symtpoms.) I will PM you on how to find a doctor.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

I will also send you a PM about the doctor that tested me CORRECTLY. I don't agree with her treatment - I'm going the alternative route. But, you could at least get her to test you through Igenex so there's no question.

Also, I'll include my contact info - I live in Dallas too!
